Re: Accessing Rasberry Pi NAS with Linux

I wouldn't give up yet. I have multiple RPis and they all talk to each other. Have you tried different security modes in the mount command on the laptop ? Maybe the Ubuntu laptop has newer/older software and is requiring a mode that samba in the Pi isn't supporting. For instance in my samba/smb.conf...

Setting ALSA default output to headphone jack

Hi, I'm trying to set ALSA so the default output is the headphone jack. If a screen is attached (DVI not HDMI) I can force the headphone output by specifying card 1 in .asound.rc. But if there is no screen then the headphone card is card 0 and so specifying card 1 is invalid. Is there any way I can ...

Kernel versions

Hi, I'm using the 5.4.51-v7+ kernel on multiple devices. I notice there are 4 versions of this kernel (+, v7+, v7l+, and v8+). I'm guessing that v7 is for armv7 and v8 is for armv8. But what are the + and v7l+ versions for ? Also, I have an old RPi B (armv6) and the new kernel doesn't appear in the ...

Re: Troublesome TCP SYNs

Hi, In case this helps anyone: iptables entries can be used to drop SYNs. My block on port 445 shows this when monitoring with wireshark. To reduce the impact of these SYNs I set /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_synack_retries to 0 (was 5). Now the Pi just sends one ACK to the SYN and then presumably times ou...

Troublesome TCP SYNs

Hi, I'm running stretch on a Pi 3B+ with a ZTE H268A router. I'm getting heap of TCP SYNs from maybe 20 IPv4 addresses. My SYN,ACK response is apparently ignored and the Pi does try retransmission which is making things worse. This Pi is running a web server so I do need port forwarding on the route...

systemd - extraneous CR to tty1

Hi, When running with systemd (rather than sysvinit-core) something sends a CR to tty1 (maybe others also) when the bash prompt is displayed. This generally happens within a few seconds of the prompt being displayed and can occur while I'm actually typing a command. This happens with stretch and als...

Unwanted leases on static wifi connection

Hi, I'm using an RPi 3B with kernel 4.19.57. I have my wifi connection set as static but the system is still requesting DHCP leases when the connection starts. The only way I can stop these unwanted leases is to remove the DHCP service from the startup list. Here is my interfaces section: auto wifi ...

Re: Bluetooth Issues! Blue-utils & bluez-simeple-agent

@phelum: That's a pretty drastic step backwards. I don't see why. It does what I want and I couldn't get Bluez5 to do the same. Perhaps I missed something. I want a BT system where any device can pair if it uses my specified PIN. This isn't a security issue because the only service is a console whe...

The dmesg error is gone, but the errors during ifup are the same.
Maybe also copy brcmfmac43430-sdio.txt from the same location.

Hi,
I think ifconfig only lists active interfaces. Can you try iwconfig which should list wlan0. If it does then try ifup wlan0 and see what reports you get.

Sounds like a problem with apt-get update. Can you check /etc/apt/sources.list and fix it if required ?

Well, the pi's been booted up an hour or so but sitting about 10 minutes. And I started getting ext4_find_entry errors about inodes it can't find. Out of the blue. Try adding these lines to config.txt (comments are optional):

Code: Select all

# (by default RPi3 uses ttyAMA0 for BT and ttyS0 for serial console).
