Re: VNC viewing or RPi prompt from Windows

Thank you fruitoftheloom. That was the same KB I used to install VNC, When I start the VNC server on the Pi it lists session :1 when I browse to session 1 with the VNC viewer I get the desktop, without the session ID I get a black screen. Using who -u on the Pi I have two sessions: pi tty7 pi tty1 s...

VNC viewing or RPi prompt from Windows

Hi, Got an RPi3 with Raspian Stretch hooked up to a monitor with HDMI, works fine with sound. I installed Real VNC server and client on the RPi and a client on Windows using the typical install. I can remote into the Pi with VNC when it's in desktop mode but when I boot into terminal I cannot VNC in...

Re: rpi3 usb microphone on stretch

Thanks for that tip @TVJon, I'll give it a try later. Something must have change with Stretch, I mean, I ended up buying a second microphone that works 'great' on a Jessie installation and the first was from the PiHut so I doubt they'd be selling incompatible components. I've seen a ton of posts fro...

Re: rpi3 usb microphone on stretch

Hi Neil,

using the commands to record and playback I get white noise static with no audible capture of noise I made during the recording.
Auto gain is set and microphone input volume is about 80% according to alsamixer.

Thanks for replying.

rpi3 usb microphone on stretch

Thanks for looking at this. I've been trying all weekend to get an RPI3 and a USB mic to work and I simply can't. I understand from various other posts for Jessie and previous Raspian versions the ALSA setup has changed somewhat (giveaway being the need for edit to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf tha...

Re: Keep Raspian Jessie but still update

Thanks for the reply.
It seems that NOOBS will do an online installation if network is attached, so despite the media having Jessie, when it installs Raspian it is actually pulling down the Stretch image and using that as installation media.

Keep Raspian Jessie but still update

Hi guys,

I'm building a Retropie/Linux learning RPi2, Retropie only supports Raspian Jessie.
How do I keep the system up to date in terms of packages but not the distribution, I don't want Stretch.
sudo apt-get upgrade is pulling in Stretch, not sure how to suppress.

Thank you.

Re: USB Joysticks & Fuse

In emulation station I also have fuse running, my xbox360 controller can "fire" in games where I choose kempston.
I have kepmston chosen as the game input and in the fuse menu.

How do I go about mapping assignment to the controller?

Thanks

Re: RELEASE: EmulationStation 2.0-RC1

Hi RB,

thanks for the reply, I will give that a test and report back.
I added Unreal Spectrum Emulator as binary to the emulators folder, then pointed es_system.cfg with a <command> entry.

Thank you.

Re: RELEASE: EmulationStation 2.0-RC1

Hi, could anyone please advise what the permissions need to be for ES to run a new emulator? I added an emulator and added it to the es_system.cfg and inside of ES it launches as required but I get an access denied from the command line. I'm launching ES as pi. Looking at the other systems they are ...

Re: Fuse - Retropie

Actually, whilst I'm banging on about this. Is there any way to see what the command is to run Unreal Speccy Emulator outside of the pie store app? I've installed that in the past from the store UI, when launching it launches a command to reboot and launch from console. I'm not sure how to find out ...

Re: Fuse - Retropie

Thank you both very much. Still getting the hang but it does not seem to be FBZX that is causing the issue, from the console it works perfectly using the install that comes with EmulationStation 2 SD card image. It seems to be the hand off back to ES that is causing the issue. I'll post that out to ...

Re: Fuse - Retropie

Hi Welshy,

I'm back on about FBZX, it's working very well for me, one thing though is that it does not shut down cleanly, gives a blank screen and i have to do the Alt + PrintScr + SEISIUB to restart the Pi.
Do you have any experiences of similar?

Thank you.

Re: Fuse - Retropie

Thanks Welshy, I'd actually found most of that info but I appreciate you pointing it out. I decided to play a little, in the systems.cfg there was a line underneath the xinit fuse call for COMMAND. Comment out the xinit command and uncomment the second line, basically using the alternative COMMAND. ...

Fuse - Retropie

Hi all, need some help please, I've installed RetroPie/Emulationstation and have it running. I installed binaries. I have roms for Fuse but I cannot get it to display, instead I select a rom and I get the text below, (running as pi user). This output is from me trying to launch from command line as ...
