It will work with PINN which is just a better compatible version of noobs. Give it a try.
I was just reading through your change log. Thanks for your assistance!

Re: Can Recovery Mode use a USB WiFi dongle?

Not the official adaptor: https://thepihut.com/products/raspberry-pi-wipi-wireless-adapter?variant=758603313 This one is and has the Raspberry Motif: https://www.raspberrypi.org/products/raspberry-pi-usb-wifi-dongle/ Since that official one was marked end-of-life back in January 2018, has it been r...

You can identify which wifi dongle you have by using

Code: Select all

lsusb
Best to do this in Raspbian.
Ah, Ralink Tech. Well, now I know. Thanks, much!

Re: Can Recovery Mode use a USB WiFi dongle?

@allenhuffman, Just to clarify - is your "official" WiFi dongle either of the last two (Broadcom, lsusb:ID 0a5c:bd1e) shown here: http://www.cpmspectrepi.uk/raspberry_pi/MoinMoinExport/WiFiBlueToothAdapters.html ? Trev. You know what, I believe you have spotted my issue. The adapter I have is the "...

Re: Can Recovery Mode use a USB WiFi dongle?

If by "recovery mode" you mean the use of NOOBS, then NOOBS should work with broadcom dongles which will cover all built in wifis and should also cover any official dongle, but no others. Correct, NOOBS. When it boots into recovery mode, is there anything I have to do to make it recognize the offic...

Re: Headless (Raspian LITE?) video player options? Black screen during and after VLC.

Maybe mpv , the newer version of mplayer, but you need to be using a frame buffer to get graphical display, if I remember right. (VLC should run from the command line too, but again needs a frame buffer for graphics, I think.) I was only able to get VLC to display a black screen with audio when run...

Re: Headless (Raspian LITE?) video player options? Black screen during and after VLC.

I've used the omxplayer wrapper in python to keep 2 instances of omxplayer running then flip between them instantly (using layers if I remember). https://python-omxplayer-wrapper.readthedocs.io/en/latest/ I saw this solution and plan to give it a try. If I can get it to just hold the last frame of ...

Can Recovery Mode use a USB WiFi dongle?

I have the official Pi WiFi Dongle, and wondered if it was possible to use that during Recovery Mode / first-time Setup. I just got a Pi Zero W and saw how it let me connect to WiFi and download other installers. When I try this on my older Pi's (no built-in WiFi) using the USB WiFi dongle, it doesn...

Headless (Raspian LITE?) video player options? Black screen during and after VLC.

I just started working on a video player project. I need something that will be turnkey and run headless without a GUI or user interface (all from custom C code or scripts I write). I installed Raspian LITE and found OMXplayer works, but won't do what I need. I need to transition between videos with...

Re: set_overscan.sh

Thanks for posting this. overscan.c was exactly what I was looking for. Having to reboot a machine all the time to make simple changes is very frustrating (I was spoiled by the old OS-9 operating system which could dynamically load, init and term device drivers and such without a reboot). I note you...

Termcap vs Terminfo (Curses) cross platform color text

Greetings. I am looking for "best practice" advice for creating cross platform text displays (Windows, Mac, Linux). I write many command line utilities in ANSI-C to use at work for Windows 7 (GCC, MinGW/MSYS).I also build them for Mac OS X command line and, lately, Linux on Raspberry Pi. I am wantin...
