Re: Can't interact with windows via top bar

Okay, what on earth is going on here? Note: I'm going to call the key on my keyboard marked with the Windows logo the "Super" key. Let's call the install of Raspbian I talked about above Card 1. I just took out another SD card and flashed Raspbian to it. Same image as far as I can tell. Let's call i...

Can't interact with windows via top bar

Raspbian Buster running on a Pi 4. I was in the middle of trying to figure out what's the matter with Code::Blocks when I open a terminal, it appears on the right-hand monitor, I go to drag it over to the left-hand monitor and I can't drag the window. The minimize, maximize and close buttons on the ...

Nice! :D

I don't Twitter so I missed the announcement. :D I was trying to apt search things like "image burner" or "SD Writer" and probably just failed to notice it in the results. Thanks!

Raspbian Image Writer for ARM

Howdy, At the top of the raspberrypi.org Downloads page as of this writing, there are links to download an SD card imager program, for Windows, Mac and Ubuntu. All for amd64 machines. Is that available for Raspbian running on the Pi? It would help me out to not have to sweat about getting if= and of...

Re: Importing modules in modules

Thanks folks. I am aware that python import looks through the directory containing the invoking script then $PATH, that's fairly straightforward. Looking back at the code, they did it a little strange. The board has an ATTINY84 for a brain, and they wrote it in such a way that it only has commands f...

Importing modules in modules

A customer of mine has gotten me onto Sparkfun's Qwiic series of I2C toys. They have a neat little relay board that works via I2C so it's easier to hook to the Pi than one of those meant for Arduino boards you see all over Amazon. Trick is, Sparkfun has focused on the Arduino for the Qwiic system, t...

I think udev doesn't work, and there's no useful documentation

I've found several forum posts about this, and none have helped me. I have an mp4 on a usb thumb drive. I want it to automatically play using omxplayer when I plug in the drive. I wrote a simple little bash script that goes a little somethin' like this: #!/bin/bash omxplayer /media/pi/drivename/vide...

Re: Pi 3 broken SD slot

The metal cage broke off. Inspecting it, it looks like the cage is held on at four corners by solder pads. It pulled one of the copper pads off of the board with it. I could probably get it back in place with some solder or CA glue, though I'm also tempted to replace the whole card reader. Either wa...

Pi 3 broken SD slot

My Pi 3 fell off the table and the SD card slot broke. SD card was laying on the floor when I picked up the Pi. Anyone know how to desolder and replace the card slot?

Re: How to Run NFS Server on Raspberry Pi

I'm about at my wits end. I've used the instructions found here: http://www.instructables.com/id/Turn-Raspberry-Pi-into-a-Network-File-System-versi/ I installed it on my 8GB SD card running Raspbian Jessie. One step he seems to be missing is exportfs -av I had it working. Yesterday. Then I shut down...

I followed the instructions on the website linked above. It corrupted my SD card.

Samba doesn't work, NFS destroys operating systems...there's no such thing as a Linux file server, is there?

Re: Battery powered Pi + other device

So to clarify, you want to: run a Pi + an unspecified 12V device from the same 12V rechargeable battery control both with a rocker switch When the rocker switch is moved ON, the Pi boots up and the device turns on When the rocker switch is moved OFF, the device shuts off, and the Pi automatically sh...

multiple webcams for still pictures

So I've got a 3D imaging project I'm working on, and I've got a couple competing ideas for how to proceed. I basically need to take lots of still images of the same object from many angles simultaneously. Most of the discussions I've seen about multiple cameras are about video, I just need still ima...

Can't start VNC at boot in Jessie

The script on raspberrypi.org to run tightvncserver in /etc/init.d at boot doesn't work in Jessie. Crontab refuses to work. Other than going back to Wheezy (the unbroken one) I'm out of ideas. So I'm going to ask four questions: What did they break, how did they break it, how do I fix it, and how do...

A simple tutorial was what I was hunting for. Most of the ones I've found are geared toward attaching to some IoT service, which I don't want to do.
I did find this guy: https://youtu.be/OHEsy9oJEi0 so that's a start.

How does get_orientation actually work?

I'm working on a Sense Hat powered quadcopter autopilot. Thing is, the documentation for the python library is really sparse. It basically says attitude = sense.get_orientation() generates a dictionary with keys pitch, roll and yaw, so wham! In one line of code you know which way is down. But this r...

Re: Which way is Pitch and Roll

My Sense Hat hasn't arrived yet, but given that image with the axes labelled, the SD card is considered the "nose" of the Pi, so tilting the SD card up and down is pitch, tilting the HDMI port up and down is Roll, and rotating the board on the flat is Yaw.

How to intentionally disconnect from wifi

My google fu has failed me.

On every other Wifi-enabled device I own, you can "forget" a given network so the machine won't automatically log in. How do you accomplish this on a Raspberry Pi?

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install midori
It works. It's not perfect, I suspect there's no hardware acceleration since the CPU usage reads high and the frame rate chugs a bit, but youtube works correctly out of the box and I haven't managed to crash the browser yet.
