Re: Ssh problem

Maybe you can try to login using the IP address.
On your phone install FING.
It will find all devices in your network.
Find your Pi zero an login with pi@ip-address-of-your-pizero

NFS vs SAMBA

I've been reading this post about sharing files . A web seach brought me to this comparision . Raspberrypi offers NFS setup instructions as well as Samba setup instructions . I have a 1.8 Tb USB drive as a backup attached to my RPI using Samba W10 can connect to NFS as well as Samba. Any reason to s...

Re: Collections

On doomsday you'll be happy that the glazing is in the windows, that you'll be able to buy food. There was a nice dress rehearsal with existing power supply when Covid-19 landed. Just imagine power supply fails as well. I'd go out chopping wood instead of resurrecting my private home automation syst...

You tested a lot.
Did you start from scratch as well by inserting a NOOBS SD card and see what happens?

Re: VPN question

I'd say: go for it. Install PiHole first and then PiVPN. PiVPN with Wireguard will be integrated automagically when you do so. Then open port 52820 on your router and redirect all DNS requests through your raspberry. (It's well documented in PiHole and PiVPN sites) I wouldn't be surprised if you can...

Re: course on C/C++ for raspbian

One must have rally complex and powerful computations before there is a need for C/C++. The pi zero isn't the platform of first choice for that. Maybe just stick with python plus you won't have to wait for compiling every time. K&R on the other hand is a book that is a must read for everyone who pro...

Somewhere here on the forum you will find a link for speed results of SSD and SD. Interesting real life stuff to read. Good consumers info before you buy. Test for yourself. and watch the results of different SDs and SSDs on different RPI configurations. Participate for yourself? Run this command on...

Re: VPN question

The combination PiHole and PiVPN using WireGuard is top of the line. It bans ads, allows you to connect safely to the internet from anywhere of that you are 'inside' your own raspberry once you're connected. You can work on your home automation as if your at home without having to open a port like 8...

He is in the US? I use an old pi2 for the ADS-B feeder - excellent. PiAware has a downloadable image to do it all for you. That pi2 has 1GB RAM, no heat sink and runs off an old phone charger. Same setup, doing just fine. I would go for RPI 3B+ or RPI4 2G Reading the problems people encounter every...

I'm very happy with the cheapest I could score.
On this forum you can find how-to give more power to the USB ports of your raspberry.
1.2A instead of 0.6A for the 4 ports together.

Re: Can I configure OpenVPN on Chrome?

Why bother about all kinds of VPN while you can install PiVPN on your RPI? PiVPN offers us a private VPN from home, you can reach your own RPI from anywhere and you'll have a free and safe tunnel anywhere where you're on public WiFi. That's exactly what this marvelous RPI offers us. Besides you'll h...

Did you consider that there might be a hardware problem? You mention having used 1B, 2 and 3B before. You didn't have problems with those. So it might be hardware. I now have my second RPI 3B+ The first one randomly stalled The shop looked at it and told me everything was working fine. After that th...

We are planning to move to the 5.4 kernel in the near future (perhaps a few months).
What is the status?
Is it 'safe' to do a rpi-update in this stage?
