Re: 4.3 and 7 ssd1963 screen success with fbtft

hi, younatan The ADS7846 part of the code is for the touch screen. You need to assign the gpios like this (gpios=reset:29,dc:2,wr:31,db00:11,db01:9,db02:10,db03:22,db04:27,db05:17,db06:4,db07:3,db08:7,db09:8,db10:25,db11:24,db12:23,db13:18,db14:14,db15:15 rotate=0 ) db is the connection on the scree...

Re: Guzunty Pi. New users start here.

Hi Derek, Thanks for the kind words, I think I'm going to give this a go :) . Which if any SRAM do you recommend ? I saw there are a few that run at a max speed of 64MHz . Do you think that would be fast enough ?. Anything over that is in a LQFP package :? . Also I did look at the spartan 6 but with...

Sorry if it seems like your spoon feeding me
Thanks

Re: Guzunty Pi. New users start here.

Hi Derek, Thanks for the speedy reply. This is what gave me the impression it was possible ;) Drivers for LCD-PI33, LCD-PI43 and LCD-PI50 also have a compress parameter. If compress is set to 1 the data transferred over SPI is compressed on the fly. Especially in GUIs this technique works very well....

Re: Guzunty Pi. New users start here.

Hi Derek, Sorry I should posted this link : http://www.hwlevel.com/hwlevel/LCD-PI32/lcd-pi32.html The cpld can be clearly made out in this image. I assume they use the same setup on all there models . Also this link in they're forum : http://www.hwlevel.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1197 Not sure i...

Re: Guzunty Pi. New users start here.

Hi Derek, Thanks for your reply. I do believe the guys over at hwlevel.com have achieved decompression using the same cpld as the guzunty. http://www.hwlevel.com/hwlevel/RPiDisplays/RPiDisplays.html I'm just not sure how I would go about this. Also would it be worth it, Or is it possible to up the d...

4.3 and 7 ssd1963 screen success with fbtft

Hi all, I've been looking around, and I can see many posts on people wanting to know how to get these screens going on they're pi. With the help of the very talented notro using his fbtft . ( https://github.com/notro/fbtft/wiki ) I've managed to run both my ssd1963 screens (4.3",7") and I'm sure the...

Re: Guzunty Pi. New users start here.

Hi Derek, Just wondering if you have tried compression to boost the clock speed. I've seen someone doing it with the same cpld. Though im not sure how this was achieved. I'm running a 7" ssd1963 screen but the max speed I can get is 82MHz. This is fine for playing roms, but when I play a 720p video ...

Re: Recommendations on how i should proceed?

I'm in the process of creating exactly what you are talking about ;) . I have used an old xbox 360 hddvd for my case it has the original power board still inside and that provides me with 2x12v,2x5v,2x3.3v and 2xgnd so it is ideal. (very cheap from eBay as it's obscelete tech, blu ray won that war ),...

Re: Guzunty Pi. New users start here.

The 9572 is the largest CPLD that fits the design. Bigger arrays exist but are only available in QFP package format. I've soldered them, but they need a steady hand and I've lost a few. Most people would not want to try their hand at building their own. Prebuilt boards would have to be sold at a co...

Re: The Raspberry Pi Model B+ Q&A thread

Most likely the SD card image you used hasn't been updated. Ohh ok thanks for that, I hadn't realised that the kernel would need updating. The image works the way it should, by that I mean the screen starts just no Ethernet or usb I will update the kernel and see how things are after that. Thanks a...

Re: The Raspberry Pi Model B+ Q&A thread

Hi, all I got my model b + from cpc today :P Fitted a sd notro's master image. Powered it up, everything is fine apart from the Ethernet and USB ports are not working ??? Not sure what it could be maybe just a faulty board. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this or solved this is...

Re: Guzunty Pi. New users start here.

Hi Derek, Thanks again for your speedy reply, I have two of those in the link, but for the life of me I can't get it programmed as a joystick, that's why I ended up going with Leo,it was almost plug and play. But you are right,I do feel like it is drawing a lot of power from the pi.I'm running a 4.3" ...

Re: Guzunty Pi. New users start here.

Hi Derek, Thanks for the reply, I think I misunderstood what the arduino core did lol. I thought that's that the cpld functioned as an arduino once programmed with the core. I did say I was a noob. A Leonardo, huh? Yes, you can interface that to the Pi through the CPLD. You wouldn't want to ...

Re: Guzunty Pi. New users start here.

Hi Derek, Thanks for the speedy reply, I am already using an arduino leo. I have programmed it as USB controller it works great, but I was wondering if there was an easy way to add analogue because as you stated the pi has none. The cpld can be used as an arduino I just wasn't sure lol. What would b...

Re: Guzunty Pi. New users start here.

Analog inputs are possible, but without adding some codec hardware. Hope that helps, Derek Hi Derek , Thanks for the link, I didn't realise there were so many free gpios :P Now about the analogue, I'm trying to add a XY joystick to my handheld pi. So would I still need a analogue to digital convert...

I have just also ordered a model B+ lol On anothe...

Re: FBTFT ssd1963

Hi I can confirm that thanks to notro's great work, fbtft does support ssd1963 lcd's using flexfb. I have a 4.3" ssd1963 lcd and I connect it to my pi via a guzunty pi and there is no need for an extra power circuit .(with the 4.3" at least ) I use the standard guzunty lcd driver and the type the fol...
