Re: Runs from command line but not from cron

Thanks for the replies. You were both pointing in the right direction. I have solved this now but don't claim to fully understand the solution. It seems that Matplotlib was expecting an X-Windows environment as a backend. This it must have had when working from the command line (even though I wasn't...

Runs from command line but not from cron

I have a Python program which, when run, opens a file of weather data, does some analysis, plots a sheet of graphs using Matplotlib, FTPs the graphs to my website and sends me an email to confirm it has done it. Nothing is output to screen. It works fine when run from the command line but fails when...

Re: MySQL and python question

I installed as you did using "sudo apt-get install python-mysqldb" and it works fine. Check how you have entered MySQLdb in your code. Python is very picky about case.

Re: Weather Station now running

And another WS 1080 up and running with pywws thanks to the instructions from pingus512. Not yet pushing the data to any service or website. That will be the next step.

Re: Backup Server

It is a pity that backuppc is not available for the Pi. Great interface and automatic reporting by email of problems. No software needed on clients. I have been using it for 4 years on Ubuntu.

Where is the boot log? [obsolete]

Where will I find the boot log in Raspbian, or if there isn't one how do I set one up to log all that information that flies past during bootup? I want to see what stuff is being loaded and what hardware is recognised.

Thanks

Re: Current Farnell Delivery Time

As no one else seems to have done so, I will answer your original question. It's amazing how quickly this forum goes off topic. I ordered in the UK from Farnell on the 6th Oct. It was dispatched on the 12th and received it on the 15th.(would have been quicker but the weekend got in the way) Thanks ...

Current Farnell Delivery Time

I was wondering how Farnell are doing. I ordered on 1 October and delivery time was stated to be 3 weeks so they are not late yet but a month or so back it seemed people were getting them within days of placing an order.Anyone had a recent delivery (in the UK) from Farnell and if so when did you ord...

Re: Python Online Course

Looks interesting, but one thing I find hugely disappointing is the lack of information about the timetabling and structure of the course. For example: I presume there are possibly live streamed sessions, so when are they? This would be important for a UK user, as the scheduled time in the US where...

Re: Farnell - buy a Pi with a case

Farnells website is a mess in this regard. Afaict due to some messy legal issues in parts of europe they can't sell to customers through their regular website in some parts of europe so they created a special Pi website. Unfortunately for some reason I don't understand consumers in the UK looking t...

Farnell - buy a Pi with a case

I have ordered a Pi from Farnell (I am in the UK). When going through the order process there is no option to order accessories at the same time. So I ended up just ordering a Pi. I went back in to buy a case (cost £4.68) but then the minimum they will accept on a credit card is £20.My Pi order came...

Re: Latest Order and Shipping update from RS & Allied

= Sorry, but the whole "it's nothing to do with us,we can't do anything, they're nice guys really, give em a chance" attitude, and the frankly, disgraceful handling of this by RS means that I've given up on RS and the project. I might not have put it the same way but paulkerton does have a valid po...

Re: Latest Order and Shipping update from RS & Allied

Well – I have cancelled my order with RS. I was very excited about the Pi when I first heard about it at the end of last year. But now the excitement has gone. My 70th birthday passed while I was waiting for delivery and at my age I don’t get excited about very much any longer. I am very disappointe...

Re: Best Version of Fedora to learn from

<t>I currently have Ubuntu installed on my second PC. We know we are not going to get Ubuntu on the RPi so I was thinking of installing Fedora in place of Ubuntu as a learning exercise. I will not be buying an Rpi in the first wave - I will wait for the case version. In the meantime which version/ed...
