update SDL2 to a recent version

Hi all. I'd like to update SDL2 (including the dev package) to an updated version, like 2.0.8 or 2.0.9. Raspbian still comes with 2.0.5. I compiled it successfully but when I run my application (working with 2.0.5) I got a "failed to add service - already in use?" error. This application works on my...

SDL2 and framebuffer

Hi all.

It seems to me that the Raspian repository's libsdl2-dev package isn't compiled with framebuffer support. Am I wrong?
Can somebody point me to a working example of a C program using sdl2 through the framebuffer?

I'm using a RPI2 with the official 7" touchscreen.

Thanks a lot.

Static IP for eth0, no matter what

Hi all. I really cannot figure out how to assign a static IP address to the internal ethernet port, regardless of the presence of the wifi usb dongle or the presence of a configured wifi network. I just want the ethernet port to have its static address ALWAYS, full stop. I don't care about dns or ga...

Yes, the refresh rate is really low but that could be the reason for the affordable price. And it could be fast enough for my needs.

Re: big e-ink display, 7-inch or more

Hey!

I just saw this:
https://www.waveshare.com/7.5inch-e-Paper.htm
There's even a 3-color version (but with a super-slow refresh rate).

This is its driver board, specific for RPi:
https://www.waveshare.com/product/e-pap ... er-hat.htm

Great prices, too...

There's somebody who have tried it?

Re: big e-ink display, 7-inch or more

ePaper display to run Terminal + Vim I think you should go for an e-ink display with HDMI input port. It lets you to have a terminal just plugging it in. Using GPIO there is no standard protocol to drive a display as a local display, and terminal emulators expect to show their output on local displ...

Re: Midi Bluetooth

Re: Pyserial problems

Rapidly looking at your code it seems to me that the lines containing ser.readline() are the possible blocking points. Did you debug this possibility? Could you use a debugger or just add a print() just before and after ser.readline() and see if it blocks there? You could also set a reading timeout ...

Why nohup? Couldn't you run it using only "python xxxxx.py" ? This way the python interpreter prints any output into the Putty console.

Tieni comunq...

Thank you Heater for your suggestions. But: I'm doing what every embedded system programmer is called to do. Yes, eventually the root filesystem is going be read-only. There will be a writable partition for configuration files and user data, but its corruption is not going to brick the device.

Re: configure network by application

Yes, my application contains a network configuration gui interface, because I need it to be fully integrated within the rest of the application, mostly for aesthetic reasons. I cannot use other gui tools. I know, this sound like reiventing the wheel, but honestly with Python and Qt it is quite easy ...
