Re: Rant: Newegg article really Pi$$es me off.

Saw this thread and was just about to post the same myself. I have a Linx 8" tab and it runs just fine with the specification below. In fact more than fine, it has surprised me and surpassed my expectations of what I should expect. I would echo the comments that I suspect everyone saying the spec wo...

Re: raspberry pi cheaper alternatives

I've previously bought an HP DC7600 for £20 - quite capable of running Linux- does that count ? Let's put it the other way (humour me) Is there a cheaper alternative for the raspi's original purpose - a simple cheap computer that can boot up and run Python or Basic or something? The Model A will do....

Re: 1 keyboard & Mouse for all my Pi's & PC's 's

It sounds to me like you need a KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) switch. Have a look on amazon or you favourite on-line retailer. Only problem is that I am not sure they make them with either compsosite or HDMI (mine are all VGA) so you may struggle with the Pi unless you get an HDMI to VGA adaptor. Steve

I use one of these devices to drop down a 12V 2A supply in a Pi driven Internet radio, works very well indeed (12V raw feeds the amp)

GPIO connected, Pi won't boot

Hello all, I've been (trying to) build the Ras Pi radio as detailed here http://www.bobrathbone.com/raspberrypi_radio.htm Being a careful sort of chap, I breadboarded it all first, and everything worked fine (Hooray). I then transferred the breadboarding to stripboard to insert into an old Bush DAC9...

By any chance, have these movies been downloaded from 'somewhere' ?
I'm guessing it is probably something trying to trick you into installing some virus / malware ridden bit of windows software.
Which obviously won't work on the Pi :-)

Re: Problem with The Pi Hut

I'd try phone, mention words like small claims court and trading standards. If that doesn't work and you paid by credit card, speak to your card company, AFAIK under UK Law the CC company is jointly liable for sales and don't get too happy when a retailer doesn't deliver. If it was by Paypal, raise ...

Hi, I'm sorry to be that guy, but I can't see the plus sides to this ? $5 a month for 12 months, $60. This would buy me two pi to host on at home. Or a Pi and a cheap VPS for a year. On most (all?) VPS's, you ca re-install any number of OS's from a control panel, not requiring any manual interventio...

Re: Sorry for being a fool but....

Hello, The Pi can be a great route into learning things, but so can an everyday PC, so don't discount that without at least thinking about it. If your lad wants to learn programming, then Python, the most recommended language for the Pi, can also be downloaded for free onto a PC. Getting a Pi would ...

Hello, If he has already built his own computer, that at least shows some interest over and above an average computer user. The Pi runs on a free operating system called Linux, has some similarites to windows and will enable him to be able to use as a 'normal', albeit slow, computer. The fun part ab...

Re: XMBC - first attempt ....

Hi Rob, The Pi does have some problems with power supplies and also USB hubs - I know you said that the 7 port hub is an active one which should help, but it has been known for them to supply a back voltage which the pi doesn't like. If possible I would try a different hub to see if you can rule out...
