Re: [TUTO] Install and SetUp minidlna media server

Can anyone post the default minidlna.conf? Or even theirs, because I messed mine up :( I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it didn't restore the original config file :( ... Thanks!

Re: Wd elements portable doesn't sleep

I'd really like to know about this because I've just unplugged my flash drives and added my WD Elements HD! The thing never spins down :(.

On Raspbian OS.

Re: Multiple users and shares for Samba

I found a gui admin gadmin-samba (you can get it with apt-get), and the GUI fixed everything. After making a few folders with a few different users (all of which I was able to add and create from the GUI), I just copied the syntax for the remaining ones. I highly recommend this GUI to get new users ...

Re: Multiple users and shares for Samba

Add this [homes] comment = Home Directories valid users = %S read only = No create mask = 0644 Then everything in /home/username will be shared if username has a smbpasswd assigned. Here is the complete first part of the smb.conf [global] workgroup = HOME server string = %h server dns proxy = no lo...

Multiple users and shares for Samba

Hello, I would like to know if anyone could point me in the direction of how to add different users to SAMBA and allow them to access their respective folders. For example, I'll have : Folder 1, Folder 2, Folder 3. I'll have users: User 1, User 2 and User 3 I want User 1 to have access to ALL folder...

Re: Connecting to TV over LAN

Well, I'm having an error now... I'm on Raspbian. The only problem is that the DLNA server didn't show "movies," on my other windows machines and Chromecast. I could only see pictures and music. But my LG TV DID see the movies folder as a share, I suppose. So instead of MiniDLNA I went with MediaTom...

Re: Connecting to TV over LAN

Not many TVs can understand CIFS(smb) or NFS. You need a DLNA server, such as minidlna . A quick google or forum search should help. Awesome thanks! I followed these two tutorials and got EXACTLY what I wanted :) Thank you! For SAMBA: http://elinux.org/R-Pi_NAS For DLNA: http://www.instructables.co...

This is my TV: http://www.amazon.es/gp/product/B00C6XC9PI?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage LG 47LA6418 LED TV And if I share a folder via SAMBA, my TV could be able to view it? I have folders shared on my PC and I can't see them by going to "SmartShare." I'd need to either run their...

Connecting to TV over LAN

Hello! I have Raspberry Pi, and I have it as a BitTorrent Sync server to keep my machines all synced up. I'd like to keep another USB drive in there, and be able to put media (like videos) on it, and stream it to my TV. I don't want to connect my RPi to my TV via HDMI. But isn't there a way to share...

Re: A few questions before buying the hardware

Thank you for your replies! They're all greatly appreciated. I was also thinking about a spinning hard drive, but I heard a lot of people with issues that the drive wouldn't spin down. Is this still an issue? Is there any way to check compatibility? I was looking at these: [*] http://www.amazon.es/T...

Re: A few questions before buying the hardware

You can be sure of one thing about a spinning disk drive--eventually it will fail. For the 64GB you mention, flash is also more economical. The Pi needs an SDHC card as its boot disk, so consider putting a 64GB SDHC card in the Pi instead of an extra USB drive. Thank you for your reply. Would you c...

A few questions before buying the hardware

Hello everyone! First and foremost I wanted to say how wonderful I think the community is. I'm not a tech-savvy person or anything, so I'd like to ask a few questions. I'm going to be ditching Dropbox and switching to BitTorrent Sync as my "backup" solution offsite. I'd like to get a Raspberry Pi B ...
