Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

Yes, I had quite a bit of trouble with triggers due to exposure adjustment... especially when there was snow on the ground. At the bottom of my pikrellcam.conf file, I set "metering_mode matrix". It seems to be working pretty well for me. Thanks for the tip. This has made a tremendous improvement, ...

Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

We've had some pretty great (sunny) weather in the UK over the past few weeks. I've noticed that my cameras have had their motion detection triggered a very large number of times each day as the pi camera auto adjusts exposure. At least I think it's the exposure. Has anyone else noticed anything sim...

Re: Lens degradation??

I've recently experienced something similar to this myself. Was wondering if the sensor may have been damaged or maybe the lense out of place causing the focus to be off.

Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

I couldn't see this in the docs, but was wondering whether its possible to passthrough the date of a motion event to the on_motion_end command? There's no direct date passing but the date is in the motion video name. Pass the last video name to your script with the $v variable and parse it. Somethi...

Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

Is there a way to show the motion regions on the UI by default. I've had a look at the config options, but couldn't see one. I have a Pi that is somewhat unstable, I'm auto rebooting it each day and would like to auto enable showing the motion regions, without having to go into the UI and selecting...

Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

Is there any way to configure the size of the thumbnails that get generated on motion events? I have a camera where the thumbnails taken of people are of a very small area, e.g. maybe just someones hand or foot. Ideally I'd like the thumbnail to cover a larger area so that you could potentially see...

Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

It would also be great to be able to filter the UI on groups, so that you only see the events that your interested in so that the clutter of events from the road outside is hidden unless its required. Just remember that a given motion event may contain more than one moving object, and/or motion pre...

Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

When a motion event is completed, is there a way to know which motion regions (the motion region numbers) that the motion occurred in? Not the region numbers but something about that is in my todo. There are a few things in the todo I probably won't get to until I finish up the pikrellcam presets a...

Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

Just wanted to report a minor bug that I noticed with the UI. I suspect that this is a side effect of me storing videos remotely (dropbox) rather than on local disk. On the thumbs page, if you select anything and click on delete, it doesn't seem to delete the thumb - I think that it may be attemptin...

Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

An upgrade is up. @jit, the video_url option affects web page behavior and really isn't supported internally by pikrellcam, so I put the config for it in ~/pikrellcam/www/config-user.php. After upgrading, reload a page and a VIDEO_URL option will be in the config. New features: I upgraded to using ...

Re: PiKrellCam: feature request

I do have a request surrounding the thumbs page. Background: I have my pi uploading the videos to dropbox (rather than leaving them on the pi). So what I've done is manually hack the thumbs page so that it links to the dropbox URL of the video. Unfortunately upgrading causes this to be lost. It wou...

Re: PiKrellCam: feature request

Been thinking about this for a bit, and that's a request to have a "select all" button for the thumbs area. The reason I ask is this. Because I live on a busy street, I get a lot of hits each day (cars, etc). That's to be expected on my end. However, after manually scanning the videos, archiving th...

Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

With regards to motion regions, I noticed that the default is four regions placed across horizontally. Is there any advantage to this compared to say a single region spanning the entire view? I have a camera where I only want the lower third of the view to detect motion. So wondering what the optima...

Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

For my specific case, I think it would be nice to at least have the option to allow a sudden short-term drastic increase in motion vectors (even in random directions) to be a valid motion trigger. I'll add in this option. It will probably at least at first be labeled experimental because I would li...

Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

One curious thing about the stats is that motion in frame from left to right is increasing in (x) value, but the (dx) value is negative. Motion from right to left is decreasing (x) value, but the (dx) value is positive. Now that we have the stats data available in a file, there are many possibiliti...

Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

You can compensate some with the at-commands discussed in https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=793722#p793722 but that just improves things a bit at a cost of slow framerate. Thanks for the tip. I've also added in use of exposure_mode night, which seems to make a considerable differen...

Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

One thing that I would like to ask you and others is around what the best setup is to go back and forth into day/night mode. IMHO after some testing I've concluded that the R-Pi camera is not useful for motion detection at night (it's OK if you just want long-exposure still frames). The PiKrellCam ...
