Re: Posters

Thanks - I think I am going to get my partner to make me a few - and I will share them on here. So don't worry about making one...but if you do happen to, send it over! It would be nice if there was an area online that brought together lots of Raspberry Pi posters - posters for bedroom walls, classr...

Re: web based PI academy (international)

i would just like online. The Raspberry Pi site itself has loads of great activities to get started - and there are tons of YouTube channels about Raspberry Pi. Allen Heard does some fantastic lessons with his students, (primary) and his son (4 years old) - you can read about his projects on his blo...

Intro to Coding

I know that a lot of Picademy teachers were a little scared of teaching coding next year, so I created this blog post about introducing students to coding: http://www.excitededucator.com/2014/04/introduction-to-coding.html It's mostly about drag and drop command block coding, but students can stay l...

PiCademy Photos

I've put my photos from Picademy into a Google Drive Folder. It would be useful if we could put all our images in one place - I figured if we all share our images, then we can use each others and Pi can use them too. If you comment with your email, I'll create a folder and add you to it. Sharing is ...

Re: How to get some pis

What about something with lights - so that the lights flash when a goal is scored?

Or you could do something in Python, where students code a World Cup Fortune Teller [predicts who will win?]

Re: TryPi our event ?

That sounds brilliant. What about doing it over a week - the same way the Hour of Code was - so that students can do it in school and/or out?

Bringing in other subjects

I work in a very small school, so we do a lot of cross-curricular projects. I want to start off using the raspberry pi with technology and other subjects on joint projects, but ideally want other teachers to start incorporating them into their classes when they get a bit more confident. I thought th...

Where to get ideas

Of course we will be getting a lot of ideas from the RaspberryPi site, here, on Twitter and from GitHub...but I thought this might be a nice place to list other sources of inspiration. I run all my courses through iTunesU, so tend to put a lot of websites, PDFs, Videos, etc in the Materials Section....

Re: What's been the most useful part of Picademy?

For me I always knew that there were unlimited things you could do with a Pi, and unlimited resources to help online - but when you have very little spare time, that is all a bit overwhelming. At Picademy we were shown a range of practical ideas we can take into the classroom - those ideas I can eas...

RCE at CAMJAM

Who is going to go to CamJam - it would be good to get together and talk about the progress we have made in the month.
I'm also going to try and get some more teachers from my school to go too.
I'll be staying in Cambridge the night before [not doing the 5am wake up again!]

Jam

My school is in a shared site with a synagogue, so we aren't allowed in at weekends and have to clear off early most days. We also have ex-Israeli military as security guards....SO probably not the best place to host a jam! However I would like to support other people's jams or help host one? -Does ...
