I haven't tested it with Pi 4, but likely it will work to some extent. Not 100% optimized of course, but better than nothing. Feel free to help out with improving it.

Nard is a software development kit for embedded system Pis. It is very resistant against power-cuts and is the leading OS for industrial use cases.

There are many kiosk mode options for the Pi. But I (of course) promote the one developed by me.

Nard has a kiosk demo which might be what you seek. Just write the SD card and edit the URL as described here:

Possibly. But it's a lot of job for a workaround. Also remember one need a Pi specific USB driver.

Of course it's not! And the official SD Card Copier which does file-by-file copy is not safe either! It may or it may not work. You will never know for sure until actually running your backup.

There is no need for two devices. Using only the right Pi is sufficient, and let windows connect with IP to it. Possibly with the help of some "virtual" COM port driver.

I'm also using kernel 4.4 and has just gotten it to run on Pi 3B+. It's likely the lan78xx driver you want, because that's the one needed for 3B+ wired Ethernet. Have a look in my Git repo where you can find backport patches.

This is an old thread, but I can answer.

The answer is no. PXE support is way to buggy in the bootloader. One can use it on a lab bench. But for any serious mass deployment it's way to unreliable.
