People-counting with Pi(Zero)?

I wonder if anyone used a Pi as a database-server and maybe even as input-interface to count people. Our theatre-company still uses mechanical hand-click-counters for checking visitor-numbers in the facility and it would be nice to actually do this while saving the numbers in a database, with time a...

Re: Screenly OSE -- Digital Signage for the Raspberry Pi

Hi guys, since the "company" is bitchy if you ask question on their "support"-site I have to ask here: 1. Can I use a USB-drive for the content that is uploaded or do I just have to symlink/hardlink the content-directory to a USB-drive without breaking the whole installation? 2. It would really cool...

Re: Screenly OSE -- Digital Signage for the Raspberry Pi

Can you give me a hind how I can add display-times to the assets? Using just seconds doesn't do the trick for my usecase. I need to show certain videos at special times and dates depending on the hwclock (think about like displaying the lunchmenu while it's lunchtime or similar). And yeah, it's a pi...

Re: Screenly OSE -- Digital Signage for the Raspberry Pi

Just a question: is it possible to use Screenly offline, just loading local stored content?

digital signage solution for sensor-data and pics/videos?

Hi, since I have no idea if this all makes sense, I gonna explain what I need: I'm looking for a way to display I2C-sensor-data from one Pi, let's name it Host-Pi, on a LCD-screen connected Pi, let's name it Client-Pi. Host-Pi should collect sensor-data from I2C-sensors every 1-5mins and store that ...

RS232 with 3.3V?

Hi there, I need to connect my Raspberry Pi to a Viessmann heater, it uses an Optolink-interface (using 2 LEDs for sending and receiving IR-light for data-transmission) which is RS232 as far as I understand it. Is there any prob to drive the LEDs directly through the GPIO pins? I use this circuit: h...
