Re: Multi-function RS-485 remote sensor

Hi Daniel, I am still not sure which library to use (pymodbus, or minimalmodbus). Also, the configuration for the connection is an another issue. I have seen plenty of examples for pymodbus but all seem like for server based communication. I will keep digging it :) .. in the mean time do you have an...

Re: Multi-function RS-485 remote sensor

Hi Daniel, I just got this USB to serial (RS-485) dongle http://www.ebay.com/itm/K1BO-USB-to-RS485-485-Converter-Adapter-Support-Win7-XP-Vista-Linux-Mac-OS-/271412763881?pt=US_USB_Cables_Hubs_Adapters&hash=item3f31761ce9 and I would like to send commands to a particle counter's registers. I can see ...

Re: About microUSB polyfuse of Model B.

Hi All, I probably blew up the polyfuse after accidently touching both pin 1 (3.3V) and pin 2 (5V) with the osciloscope's probe. I followed the steps under Troubleshooting power problem on this link: http://elinux.org/R-Pi_Troubleshooting#Troubleshooting_power_problems, used a good mini usb cable an...

Re: About microUSB polyfuse of Model B.

Hi, I think my polyfuse is caput. I'd like to try replacing it myself. I've been fishing around and have not been able to determine the SMD "package size" of the particular fuse (F3) used in the Pi. Does anyone know this? Thanks very much for all of the enlightening info! Yes you can do it b...

Communication with RS-485 TTL

Hi All, I have this device http://www.ebay.com/itm/MAX485-RS485-module-TTL-to-RS-485-module-/271217539731?pt=BI_Control_Systems_PLCs&hash=item3f25d33a93 to communicate with. I set the connection up according to a topic ( http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=65085 ) that was discussed he...

Re: rs-485 and rs-232

Hi Daniel, Thank you very much for the response. you should be able to talk directly from the raspberry to your counter module with a rs-485 driver. The max485 has driver and receiver for the communication so is it ok to use GPIOS here ?. Also your driver could be at 5V . I connected gnd and 5V of R...

Re: rs-485 and rs-232

Good point I thought TTL voltage level is same with USB one. To be honest my Rpi polyfuse was blown lately and having less voltage on GPIOs.

Re: rs-485 and rs-232

Sorry for the confusion. First, I tried to create the communication between the pc and rpi. For this I used, USB-to-serial cable which uses 3.3V logic levels, and TXD - RXD pins of rpi. No problem with that so far. I can send/receieve data. But now, I got a particle counter sensor that receives data...

Re: rs-485 and rs-232

Thank you for your quick response Mr. Zilic. The problem is that I already bought the circuits and would like use them for communications with other slave(s). I am using the FTDI-TTL for serial comm already and can send/receive data to/from pc using putty. I can sacrifice the TxD and RxD pins for 48...

Re: Create GUI with TKInter over SSH

I logging in the raspberry pi by using command ssh -X [email protected] The -X will get rid of the no display name and no $DISPLAY environment variable error. You check X in ssh manual by typing this in terminal: man ssh instead of ssh [email protected] If you are working with Tkinter , make sure there s...
