Re: Call for beta testers: FIQ_FSM USB driver rewrite

Have you enabled the new stuff with: dwc_otg.fiq_enable=1 dwc_otg.fiq_fsm_enable=1 dwc_otg.fiq_fsm_mask=0x3 dwc_otg.fiq_fsm_mask=0x7 on the tail end of your /boot/cmdline.txt? This is my new dmesg output: [ 0.000000] Booting Linux on physical CPU 0x0 [ 0.000000] Initializing cgroup subsys cpu [ 0.0...

Re: Call for beta testers: FIQ_FSM USB driver rewrite

Among the Linux 3.13 commits I've found the patch ALSA: improve buffer size computations for USB PCM audio . Do you think it could help? If it is the case could it be possible to update the kernel in the next branch to include this patch? I've recompiled the 3.12 kernel with the above patch, but th...

Re: Call for beta testers: FIQ_FSM USB driver rewrite

There's something wonky with how ALSA interprets the timings on dwc_otg: you either get a) the log filled with "delay: estimated 0, actual xxx" messages There is a recent kernel patch to rate-limit these messages: ALSA: usb-audio: Suppress repetitive debug messages from retire_playback_urb() [a5065...

Re: Call for beta testers: FIQ_FSM USB driver rewrite

Best is a PC: connect the output from the DAC into line-in on a PC/laptop and run an audio record program (e.g. Audacity). Just to give you an idea of what noise we are talking about I've done a recording with my phone. The quality is far from good but it still might help you. I've more or less the...

Audio playback should now be much more reliable.
With the new update I get noise on all the files I play, but there are no more "FIQ Reported NYET" errors.

Re: Call for beta testers: FIQ_FSM USB driver rewrite

I've tried to downgrade to the commit of March 19th but I get this error: This was my fault. I was taking the commit id from the wrong repository. Using the correct id I was able to downgrade to the previous kernel (commit e8d2ad3c208f374f1df5b059a5cb15cfccd874e1 Apr 09, 2014). With the 3.10.36+ #6...

Re: Call for beta testers: FIQ_FSM USB driver rewrite

The new kernel works, but now I hear noise on all the files I play. The files that sounded distorted with the previous version are still distorted in the same way and for those files I get the usual "FIQ reported NYET" errors. Whereas if I play the files that sounded good with the previous version n...

Re: Call for beta testers: FIQ_FSM USB driver rewrite

It's highly odd that simply playing FLAC breaks things. I've also found some MP3 files that sound distorted. Inspecting the /proc/asound/card0/stream0 file it turns out that the working files are played as S24_3LE files with a "Packet Size" of 336, whereas the distorted files are played as S16_LE f...

Re: Call for beta testers: FIQ_FSM USB driver rewrite

Just when I thought I'd seen everything... The device also claims to support 24 bit depth at 32k/44.1k/48k/88.2k/96k sample rates, all through this one endpoint. I bet that your FLAC files use a higher sample rate or bit depth output which causes brokeneness. The "file" command give me these inform...

Re: Call for beta testers: FIQ_FSM USB driver rewrite

Please post a full dmesg log that includes the "FIQ reported NYET" messages. Also, please post a full lsusb -v with devices plugged in. It's highly odd that simply playing FLAC breaks things. Here they are: dmesg while playing a FLAC file and reading data from sda (cat /dev/sda > /dev/null) [ 0.000...

Re: Call for beta testers: FIQ_FSM USB driver rewrite

As an experiment, can you compare playback of FLAC as normal versus if you also plug a pendrive in and simultaneously do cat /dev/sda > /dev/null & If a launch the "cat" command while playing a FLAC file the music stops after a few seconds. However, it seems that the mpd daemon continues to send da...

Re: Call for beta testers: FIQ_FSM USB driver rewrite

I mainly use my RPi to stream music to a USB DAC (HRT Music Streamer II+). With the new FIQ_FSM driver I'm now able to play mp3 file without any glitch. Thanks! However I've still problems with FLAC files. With the old driver there were some pops and cracks now and then, whereas with this new driver...
