Re: Setting up a Classroom of 30 Pi's

Hi, I'm a complete novice to this but have 30 Pi's that we want to use as a python programming lab separate from our main network. We have a wireless router and a temporary laptop with Debian x86 installed (that if successful will be replaced by a more appropriate machine) to act as a server. Can a...

What you describe is not what I think of as Dynamic DNS. There used to be something called Weave(d) but I cant find a link to it.. I found this instead: https://www.remot3.it/web/remot3-it-connect-for-raspberry-pi.html But also the official site lists these: https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentatio...

Re: Can not detect IP on new Pi3 B+

Just got my second RPi 3 B+ and after using Win32Diskimager to install the image 2018-04-18-octopi-stretch-lite-0.15.1.img onto my SD card, setting the network name and password, I can not detect my IP using either AngryIP or my Router. Using either one of those I do see my 1st RPi 3 but that's it....

Re: Features for future Pi, voltage/current reporting.

The solution here is simple. Somebody start a kickstarter campaign for a Pi Power Monitor HAT Some one with knowledge of how to build one. I might know how to do basic electronics, but building and programming something is much harder ;) So you are expecting someone else to bear the R&D cost ? for ...

I would like to setup another Pi for more projects but don't know what version of Raspbian I should download. I was going to get Jesse, but see that it's no longer available. My question is: how do Stretch Lite, Stretch with Desktop, and Stretch with desktop and recommended software differ, and how...

Is there such a device that allows me to connect an HDMI cable to (besides a computer monitor and a TV)?

Is something like this you are seeking ?

If you want ssh with noobs, then use PINN where you can enable it, and also vncshare to view the screen remotely simultaneously.
This sounds complicated already. :)

Hello! First off I would like to start by apologizing for the content of this post. This is because I am a complete newbie when it comes to Raspberry Pi (just got mine today) and linux (as far as I know, never even seen one before today), so some (if not all the) questions might be stupid in the ex...

Strictly speaking, it is not possible to plug into the wrong USB port. A Zero or ZeroW has only one USB port. The other socket is not a USB port. :)

OK let's restate, maybe the OP is plugging in to the micro-B USB for power connector ?

Re: Features for future Pi, voltage/current reporting.

What I meant is there would be special pins added for this purpose. For example more pins such as those used for the POE HAT. So, additional cost, plus the added difficulty of routing traces around the pins which go through every layer of the PCB. Yes as already stated by a Mod it is not a viable r...

If you had read the link to the previous post you will see it should just work. I did read the link and, yes, it should work. But perhaps the OP here is using the wrong cable, not the one supplied, or it is somehow faulty. But, whatever. Your posts don't seem to be adding anything which would actua...

Re: Chromecast ethernet PSU + pizero w not working

No it does not need to be in Gadget Mode... I didn't say it did. I said it had to be in OTG USB Host mode, and being in gadget mode could be what is preventing it from working. Plugging a normal USB-A plug to Micro-USB cable into the Pi would normally force a Zero into gadget mode, and it may be th...

4) regards Android LineageOS seems more mature: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=73 If it is a Pi 3B+, then LineageOS 15 does not seem to have the proper drivers and is very slow. Re: Chromecast ethernet PSU + pizero w not working

Could it be that the Zero has to be in OTG USB Host to use the Ethernet PSU ? If so it may be that the cable you are using isn't switching the Pi to OTG USB Host mode but leaving it in gadget mode, or is switching it to gadget mode when it shouldn't. You could try a different cable and have a searc...

I can only answer your 4th question: It is possible to run Android apps on the Raspberry Pi, but you will have to install Android on it. Try using Emteria OS, which is an Android distribution that runs on the Pi. 4) regards Android LineageOS seems more mature: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/vie...

Remember too the aim of a HAT is to use only what is already available as connections to the Pi itself Is it? Where is that documented? Does it matter ? Is it relevant to the OP's idea which is not a reasonable implementation based on cost / usage ? https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/introducing-rasp...
