Re: pdanet on android to usb tether to latest version of raspbian on pi 3

I live in the mountains and the only internet that is reliable is my phone tethering. I use pdanet and an option on that app to hide tethering from my provider. Anyway, I want to just use my pi 3 as my main computer and need to be able to tether from my phone via usb. on my windows pc i am able to ...

Re: ethernet and wlan interfaces don't exist in Raspian Stretch

OK. Who did it? Who buggered up networking again? I just installed Raspbian Stretch and am dismayed to find networking messed up yet again. ifconfig -a includes ethernet and wireless interfaces. wlan0 and encb827eb351305. Don't get me started on how brain damaged that new naming scheme is. My gripe...

Is there a way to close this thread? In the time it took for this thread to get approved I got farther in my quest to make this work and submitted a new post with updated information. I don't want people wasting their time here.
EDIT your initial post and put SOLVED at front of title..

Re: Ubuntu Mate with Raspbian kernel: New Firefox 55.0.1 crashes on startup

Does the same problem happen on Raspbian? On my standard Raspbian installation, there's only the older version 52 of Firefox ESR, which works fine. However, this Firefox version 52 (without "ESR") used to work on Ubuntu-Mate-for-Pi, too. On Raspbian it's the apt package: firefox-esr-52.3.0esr-1~deb...

There is no such thing as a 'RGB-Pi lead'. If you want RGB you need active electronics.

I see that the Transcend TS16GUSDC10I includes S.M.A.R.T. support - never seen that on a MicroSD card before. Any point to it?
Possibly as it could inform of bad blocks and wear level, but the most important question is is there Linux Software availableto read the SMART ?

Ubuntu-Mate for Raspberry Pi is a Community Release (not official) and ideally one should contact them for fixing issues. In your duplicate post you state Realtek RTL8811AU Wireless Chipset, that is not supported without additional firmware/driver.

The reason I suggested this option in this case is because the original poster was having problems with formatting the SD card. Using etcher has made the process of flashing an image directly on to the SD card much simpler that it used to be when I first did it with the original pi. Though I can se...
