Re: Pull the plug

The above statements are true for Raspbian, but there are other options (like Tiny Core Linux, which is an OS that runs entirely from RAM). Persistence is the main issue. If you don't need to save data between boots, then something like Tiny Core could allow powering off at any time. If you DO need...

Re: RPi 3B+ core frequency change

Hello, I am trying to set my 3B+'s core frequency from 250MHz to 400MHz. I added core_freq=400 in the config.txt but running vcgencmd measure_clock core after reboot still shows the frequency as 250MHz. Is changing this no longer possible on the 3B+? https://miguelangelantolin.com/raspberry-pi-3-b-...

Re: STICKY: Pi 3 A+

Does the Pi3A+ require the latest OS? Mine should arrive this afternoon, but my internet connection at home is under repairs, so I"m stuck with a ~2 month old version of Raspbian until some time next week., Support for 3A+ was added 2018-10-09: http://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspbian/release_note...

Re: Rasp3B+ with SSD How to power ?

Hi Thank you for your answers. I did not have other power or shorter USB cable but I modified a USB cable to put 18AWG wire and no problem with it. An infrared thermography control allowed me to confirm that the power supply does not heat (compared to Raspberry) and the USB connector does not heat ...

Re: Powering a Raspberry Pi 3Model b+

Maybe this would be a better solution ? https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/lipo-shim Maybe not, since it's designed for a Pi Zero and only outputs 1.5A, and the OP was asking about powering a 3B+ model. Although the concept is sound. You'd need a DC-DC converter with higher output current capabilit...

Re: Ban from Raspberry Pi forums. [Self-imposed.]

I can understand the frustration with the changes, but a close reading of *why* the changes were made shows them to be beneficial because this should be the *last* time one has to redo user account level config file....and that is a very good thing. One does have to question how many people change ...

A threat of physical violence has no place in a civilised forum, whether it was meant in jest or not. I think a ban is entirely correct in this case. So why was he not banned when he used the exact same 'threat' on earlier occasions? And why don't moderators get banned when they threaten with a (ba...

It says "Waiting", and eventually times out with a halt. Even with just one drive plugged into the hub (and I've confirmed there are no UUID or PARTUUID conflicts). I'm positive that something in the update prevents it seeing through the hub, now. EDIT: And it's not Linux per se. My Desktop is runn...

HI, We have a RPi connected to a TV. We want to use this TV to show announcement type slides in a slideshow. The slides don't change very often but I need to be able to update them remotely. Re: STICKY: Pi 3 A+

My non powered USB hubs are cheap, but they worked OK on my RPi3B(+) - so I was surprised that the RPi3A+ didn't give them enough power, using the same 2.5A official supply. :o It must be down to the fact that the RPi3B(+) has 4 ports with 1.2A available, & the RPi3A+ only has one port with 600mA. ...

It’s interesting how this thread has all the naysaying like bringing up Stratagus or saying “There is no WINE for non X86 systems”. It's basically people's ignorance, misunderstandings, preconceived but false notions of wine limitations. You'll find it elsewhere as well as here; people believing th...

To do this, your will have to make you Raspberry Pi an Access Point. This allows people to connect locally to your pi, but the pi is not connected to the outside world.
