Re: Some pointers... please.

I am intending to use my Pi to develop a project. I do NOT wish to use any currently available OS. I wish to develop my project from scratch. So, I've acquired my Pi, and have built it as a Windows 10 system.(This is only because I'm very comfortable with the Windows product set as opposed to the v...

Re: Can't write to an external drive but can write to an sd card

Apologies if this has been asked many times before, but it's really annoying. I have the pi plugged into my tv, and in one of the USB slots I have an sd card which I can read and write to (remotely using ES Explorer via my Android phone). In one of the other USB slots I have an external ssd drive w...

Re: Couldn't clean the drive, command failed - when writing an image to the sd card

when using an image writer like Etcher you do not need to format the card, as etcher will simply overwrite the sectors, I have modified the sticky to make that more clear. I suspect you have a fake card. Just an addendum, Etcher actually unzips and writes the .IMG to a SD Card (some unzippers do no...

Re: Booting from USB on raspi3

once one does an apt-get update/upgrade cycle in the future it will be trivial to swap your external device to a new model of Pi, should you desire to do so. (granted, you can do tht with an SD card as well). you might need to OTP USB boot enable the new SoC by a (small) SD card setup first?? Yes q...

Re: Can't remote connect to pi from Windows. Getting "xrdp_mm_process_login_response: login failed" error

Nevermind, figured it out. I had to type in "pi" as my username and not the hostname of pi. I guess, i'll leave this post here. maybe it'll help others. Raspbian Jessie / Stretch includes RealVNC by default, TightVNC and similar software causes conflicts, therefore you will need to remove RealVNC.....

Re: arm64 and the pi

I have two questions about arm64 and the pi (A) Is there an easy way to get arm64 on raspbian on the pi 3? (B) Since the pi 2 V1.2 now uses the same processor as the pi 3 (BCM2837) does that mean it is arm64 compatible too? (A) IF you must have an ARM64 Distro, then a Fedora Community Release or Su...

Re: RISCOS Not on NOOBS?

There seems to be an RC15 version of RiscOs released 20-4-2017 which claims to work on all Pi models includig the Pi3, so I might have a go at converting it to NOOBS format, provided none of the offsets have changed. Yes that is the .IMG the OP tried, before searching for a NoobS solution, I posted...

Yep - tried that too first - no sign of boot - I have posted on their forums. I was just wondering why RISCOS had been removed from NOOBS if it has. How did you burn the .IMG File, https://etcher.io/ ??? AFAIAA RiscOS for the BCM2836/7 SoC went through a long development process, which is possibly ...

but AFAIK the standalone image still works, but NOT on the Pi2 or Pi3 Yeah, that sounds about right. It won't work on any of the 1GB RAM models. Incidentally, I think (but have not tested) that it will work fine in NOOBS/PINN provided you are booting it on right (i.e., pre-1GB RAM) hardware. I.e., ...
