Re: Dead Raspi

Sorry to hear, it's probably a short. My guess is "the black thing" is the 3.3V regulator. My Raspberry Pi shows some sloppy soldering in the back side of the board too but mine works. From what i read on the forums you might be able to get a replacement without waiting again for months Later Edit: ...

Re: Network unconfigured itself

No, absolutely nothing. I solved the problem for now with a simple bash script which checks if the interface has an IP address and if there is a carrier signal This script is ran by cron every minute with the following command : * * * * * /bin/ethernet-restart >>/tmp/ethernet-restart.txt The .txt fi...

Network unconfigured itself

It's the second night in a row when my RPi unconfigured eth0 by itself. I woke up this morning and i could not ping it. When i went to see what's displayed on the monitor i could not see anything wrong. ifconfig said there is no IP address configured which is strange since i modified it to a fixed o...

Re: Network issues - could this really be power issue?

I posted on another thread thinking it might be a heat problem.
Last night i tried to download a 2GB+ file hosted on my RPi using FTP. After about 500MB i got a kernel panic message. Restarted, tried again and this time it stopped at about the same point and unconfigured the network adapter.

Re: Ethernet chip gets raging hot

There is no USB traffic on my RPi. The board stays up and I am setting it up using SSH. Last night I tried to make the test again and this time no kernel panic message but the ethernet unconfigured itself after transferring ~500MB. It might be something wrong with the ethernet drivers and not a temp...

Re: Ethernet chip gets raging hot

My Pi stayed on for three days with apache/php/mysql/vsftpd running. No problems whatsoever until I tried to transfer a 2GB file using FTP. After one hour it spit out a kernel panic; ethernet chip was quite hot to touch I only have one board and it just arrived a few days ago but since I am not the ...

<t>I tried the dropbox file posted by nmcc and that works ! I can see in the VNC output the whole dmesg scroll list.<br/> <br/> So this means my kernel is not properly compiled. Can anyone send me a proper config file for recompilation if you made other modifications to the original arch/arm/configs...

Re: PWM as a voltage regulator

I would actually use a 12v/24v transformer, a SMPS controller like LM2576 to generate ~5.5v - 6v @3A max and then a LDO in series to smooth out and regulate the voltage to exactly 5v.

Hey, this is fun, i might build my own power supply for the Pi after all
