Re: Trying to close Kodi via SSH so I can use VNC

Check Kodi binary name, with top for example, it has different names depending on the Pi version you are using. For Kodi on the Pi 4 should be kodi.bin_v8.
The kill it: sudo killall -9 kodi.bin_v8

Re: USB-MSD boot EEPROM update - 2020-05-28

Probably it was explained already, already to much comments to read it all, but if, on a brand new RPi 4, I install this "new" Raspberry Pi OS 32bit" and then clone the SD card image to an SSD in an USB 3.0 disk enclosure, will it work ? For "will it work" it is excluding other problems, more like,...

Still trying to fiddle with details - like getting the "\" key in Kodi to swap between fullscreen and windowed mode (as it does on Windows), instead of having to exit and restart Kodi.
Doesn't work, you cannot go windowed mode on the Raspberry Pi.

@Rascas: I've noticed that your Pi-accelerated build of Kodi for Raspbian has left the Kodi update notification setting on, which means it is coming up tell me there is an update available, but there is no update package available yet. It might be worth disabling this, to stop folk pestering you fo...

Here is a good guide to setup Kodi on Raspbian: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=251645 Take a look on the autostart part. If you want to autostart Kodi after the Desktop Environment starts, you should edit the file /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE-pi/autostart. This file is a global a...

Re: [Guide] Kodi on Raspbian Buster

For some reason, the current version of Kodi doesnt provide 2 important files: /etc/init.d/kodi /etc/default/kodi They are required to start kodi on boot. To fix the problem you need to create /etc/init.d/kodi first: $ sudo touch /etc/init.d/kodi The second file to create is /etc/default/kodi. $ su...

Re: Moving Linux Kernel to 5.4

Is the stateless v4l2 HEVC codec available in this kernel? In /lib/modules/5.4.29-v7l+/kernel/drivers/staging/media/rpivid/ there is a rpivid_hevc.ko. When I load it with sudo modprobe rpivid_hevc , I would expect a new device to appear such as /dev/video19, but nothing happens. I can see the modul...

Hi,
For those who only use Kodi is it worth upgrading to Kernel 5.4?
Don't thinks so. Kernel 5.4 is still in testing and from a quick look, performance looks like the same, nothing new.

Performance looks the same though, some high bitrate 4K HEVC HDR still skips frames. Bu...
