Re: New to Arch - where is stuff, can I use Arch?

Yaourt is in the aur repo that comes as standard, so you can pacman -S yaourt.

To install things from the AUR you can ignore the arch(itechture) by using -A with yaourt.

e.g. yaourt -AS ttf-ms-fonts

Also you don't run yaourt as root or sudo, just as your normal user.

Re: BBC Radio-4-Matic

I was literally thinking about how to set this up this morning for a friend who has moved to the States - admittedly on a vps and further streaming rather than a pi but maybe a pi could be a good idea.

Thanks for the guides so far :)

Re: X windows session over ssh on Mac/Linux

it works like a charm ... And of course it just works as well from iPad using iSSH or any client supporting X11 Yes. I've had success with iSSH on the iPad. Would you mind explaining how to get it working with iSSH? I can connect to rpi, type /etc/X11/Xsession but the x display is just greyed out.

Re: Torrent server

Ok so I've been using the beta wheezy Debian build and so far torrenting has been okay... Been using deluge and the web gui. Just followed this guide to set it up. Managed to download the Archlinux image from RPi site with no issues. The webui seems to disconnect me very quickly but refreshing the p...

Re: Torrent server

I have exactly the same problem. It kernel panics when downloading torrents with transmission (rtorrent too). What distro are you running? I'm using ArchLinux. Are you saving your torrents into an external hd through usb? I think this is the problem.. conflict between the network bandwidth vs the u...

Re: Torrent server

I'm finding the whole pi freezes whilst running transmission and downloading a file. I was using the daemon and remotely connecting to it from my main computer.

Tried limiting the number of connections but kept doing the same.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Raspberry Pi always on

I have used this script from xbmc wiki site . I use the debian image so this all works fine. I have dyndns setup and port forwarding on my router and I ssh using putty to pi from work. I type "wake-on-lan PC" then switch to logmein to control my windows computer at home. It's great! Requir...

Re: HowTo: Setup a Remote Desktop with VNC server

I'm trying to get my rpi to run vnc at start up but I keep getting the error when I try to update the boot sequence thing: insserv: warning: current start runlevel(s) (3 4 5) of script `vncserver' overwrites defaults (2 3 4 5). insserv: warning: current stop runlevel(s) (0 6) of script `vncserver' o...

Re: Pre-programmed SD cards?

I'd assume the same price as if you were to buy an SD from Amazon/other online retailer.

RPi could buy in bulk and get discounts and so end price being equivalent. P90 I'd say another $5.
