Re: Wifi problem on RPI B+ V1.0x running stretch (race condition?)

I seem to get an IP address each time after I run "service hostapd restart"
So as a workaround, I can already put that in /etc/rc.local so it gets run at boot time.

Re: Wifi problem on RPI B+ V1.0x running stretch (race condition?)

I had a more detailed look on the differences in the dmesg after booting in working (right) and non-working (left) state.
It seems that the systemd has different behavior in both cases. (see attachment)

Re: Wifi problem on RPI B+ V1.0x running stretch (race condition?)

Hello James, I noticed that, in my original post, I messed up the link that described the procedure that I followed first. (corrected it now). It's the link below, and it describes exactly the same procedure as the one you sent me, so I have already tried that. https://github.com/SurferTim/documenta...

Re: Wifi problem on RPI B+ V1.0x running stretch (race condition?)

After a few reboots, with WIFI seemingly randomly ending up working or not working, I compared the output of 'service --status-all' in both cases: They are exactly the same I also dumped the output of 'dmesg' in both cases: output is below for both cases: NOT WORKING: [ 0.000000] Booting Linux on ph...

Wifi problem on RPI B+ V1.0x running stretch (race condition?)

I am trying to use my RPI B+ V1.0x as a WiFi access point, using a WiPi USB stick. System info is: Linux 4.9.59+ #1047 armv6l GNU/Linux I followed the instructions on: https://github.com/SurferTim/documentation/blob/6bc583965254fa292a470990c40b145f553f6b34/configuration/wireless/access-point.md But ...

Re: using uart on RPI B+ with jessie

I decided to start from the latest image (will have to do so sooner or later anyway)
On this one the UART is ok by default:

[email protected]:~# raspi-gpio get 14
GPIO 14: level=1 fsel=4 alt=0 func=TXD0

thanks for the help anyway,

Re: using uart on RPI B+ with jessie

thanks for the reply, I am using jessie because have another application that was written already for the 'hynix' version a while ago, which uses a lot of the same libraries and settings as the one I am trying to get working now. That is why I am trying to start from that image. I want to use the pl...

using uart on RPI B+ with jessie

Due to a slight change in the RPI B+ rev1.2 (Hynix memory) my old image won't boot on a new RPI B+, so I decided to restart with a jessie image. On the previous version the UART (coming out on pins 8 and 10 at the RPI header) worked very well, but on this one (Linux version 4.4.21+ with Jessie image...

boot problem on new RPI B+ v1.2

I have been using RPI B+ v1.2 hardware for a while and copying the image between RPI's without problems, but recently I bought a bunch of new RPI B+ v1.2, and the image doesn't run on those (green light just stays on) . The only hardware difference I can see between both is the memory, which is sams...

Somebody asked me for the reset program, so I will put it here also: This reset clears the problems that are mentioned above. /* usbreset -- send a USB port reset to a USB device */ #include <stdio.h> #include <unistd.h> #include <fcntl.h> #include <errno.h> #include <sys/ioctl.h> #include <linux/us...

problems upgrading from model 1 to model 2

I have been working on a project on a RPI mod 1 B+ for a lot of time, but now model 1 seems to be disappearing, so I bought a model 2 B, to check if it was possible to migrate (even though I don't need the additional memory or CPU power) I followed the instructions on this page: https://thepihut.com...

Re: usb problem with GSM modem

sorry for the late reply.
I changed and recompiled the hub-ctrl command a bit, so it does a FULL reset of the USB hub.
I run this (USBreset) command each time when I detect the problem.
If it 's still relevant, then I can send you the changes to the sourcecode of hub-ctrl

USB power cycling problem

I am having a problem with cycling USB bus power on the RPI B+ (3.18.7+). I also posted this problem here (http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=100562) before I knew exactly what it was, but below is what it comes down to: Each time I power the USB bus off and on, a device plugged ...

Yes, I see the voltage drop, and I also see the modem re-initialising when I turn it back on (it blinks a blue led when it powers up) physically removing it from the USB connector and re-plugging it into the SAME connector gives the same result. Plugging it into another the other USB connector solve...

usb problem with GSM modem

I am using a RPI B+ (3.12.22+) with a huawei USB GSM modem (GPRS) and I have the following problem: My program switches the stick off and on using "hub-ctrl -h 0 -P 2 -p 0/1" to spare power and so the RF signal does not interfere with measurements. RPI A+ usb supply control

A while back, I found out that the RPI B+ can switch the supply to its USB ports, which the old B couldn't, meaning that USB peripherals are automatically power-cycled as the B+ reboots.

Now I saw that there is an upgrade to the A as well (A+).
Can the A+ switch its USB port supply as well?
