5x USB 25W charger

I came across this when looking for something completely different, and my first thought was "Hey, power five Pis at once!" http://community.1sale.com/2014/07/photive-25-watt-5-port-usb-desktop-rapid-charger-save-66/ The "iPad" labeled ports supposedly support 2.1A, which I think would be enough for...

Re: New Pi with 512MB RAM - Minecraft now possible?

Have you heard of minetest c55? It's a lot like minecraft but runs on much worse hardware. You can take a look? :) I really like the idea of this fast (but very alpha) open source project rather than shoehorning the heavy, closed Minecraft onto the Pi. Just five minutes of playing around with minet...

Re: Any window managers more lightweight than Fluxbox?

Enlightenment e17 seems to work fairly well on the Pi, though its compositor is disabled due to the 16-bit color default. I think once we have a native X driver for the GPU, Enlightenment will end up being a great choice. I haven't tried it yet, but I would imagine WindowMaker would also be a fast WM.

Re: Power Supply

Sorry, mine is an HTC Arrive. (yeah I know, WP7 BOOO!!! I like it though) From what I've read, the Arrive's charger is the same as on most HTC phones from the last year. You might be able to pick one up for cheap on Amazon or another vendor. For car use, there are a ton of 2100mA lighter socket to U...

Atlanta, GA area

I've noticed via the Raspberry Pi Map project that there are at least a dozen of us around Atlanta. Would any of you from the area be interested in starting a RPUG? Please note I'm not electing myself as a group leader or founder, I just wonder if anyone would be interested in starting one. I would ...

Re: Power Supply

Another follow up, the 1100mA supply from my HTC phone worked wonders, the Pi is stable with both USB ports and the Ethernet port occupied and streaming data. Now that I'm having to save up money for parts for my weather station project, I've put the Pi back on the 700mA supply and am running it wit...

Re: How long have you run your raspi for?

My longest so far is ~3.5 days, I leave it on so I can ssh in as well as test the performance of Apache/MySQL/PHP. I just rebooted it a few minutes ago after running an update via pacman and seeing a new kernel version pop in. (For those new to Arch Linux, get used to low uptime numbers; it's a blee...

Re: Power Supply

I just wanted to follow up with a suggestion to go for a 1000mA or higher power supply. I've noticed my Pi not always rebooting properly with both USB ports occupied, and I've heard of other people having issues with 700mA power supplies doing the same or randomly rebooting. Those people have fixed ...

Re: Any wireless mouse + keyboard?

Hi Please could you tell me which model of the Logitech keyboard is this? Cheers Paul The keyboard is a Logitech Wireless Keyboard K250 and the mouse is a Logitech M505. I bought them separately and paired them both with the keyboard's receiver; the mouse's receiver stays in the storage bay in the ...

Re: Any wireless mouse + keyboard?

It might be a bit pricey, but if you can get a Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard that use the Unifying receiver, you will be able to use both devices from one VERY tiny USB receiver. The downside is that you will have to pair the receiver, keyboard and mouse together under Windows or OS X, though...

Re: Power Supply

Pretty much any 5v cellphone adapter with a MicroUSB connector and at least 700mA (0.7A) rating will work. I'm running mine off of a 700mA adapter from an old LG phone that died a couple of years ago. Those things are dirt cheap on Amazon and eBay. You can also use four AA alkaline cells or five AA ...

Re: VGA

I'm not positive, but I believe if they are using an industry-standard HDMI output scheme then it should be pin-compatible with DVI. HDMI is basically DVI with audio and optional copy protection. I don't think VGA is in the spec, though I may be wrong.
