Re: Python 433MHz wireless fob RX/TX

Guy, Thanks for the prompt. In preparing a posting for Github, I saw that the current version of pigpio on Github is 78. I downloaded it; removed version 71; and made and installed v 78. The problem exists in pigpio v 71 running on a Pi-4B running the 64-bit RaspiOS but has been corrected by pigpio ...

RioRand 433MHz Xmit/Recv: Misunderstanding pinouts?

I bought a RioRand 433MHz transmitter/receiver pair (Amazon) for a small project. I'm new to 433MHz work, but after a few days of experimenting I decided that the receiver or transmitter or both were dead on arrival. Got my replacement today, plugged it in, and I haven't been able to get it to work,...

Re: Python 433MHz wireless fob RX/TX

Good Morning, Joan, As an aside I don't run any 64-bit Pis and probably won't until Rasberry Pi OS has an official build. That was a very helpful aside. I pulled out an old Pi-2B and booted up 5.10.11-v7+ #1399 SMP Thu Jan 28 12:06:05 GMT 2021 armv7l GNU/Linux (after updating the old µSD card). It's...

Re: Python 433MHz wireless fob RX/TX

Joan, Thanks -- I had forgotten about having inserted the wave_clear's, which I did after reading through the pigpio documentation. Seeing your suggestion, I removed them and reran the test with output connected to input (no device electronics connected) and got the same regular square-wave pattern ...

Re: Python 433MHz wireless fob RX/TX

Thanks for the quick reply, Joan. I'm running on a Pi-4, 64-bit 5.10.11-v8+ #1399, pigpiod v71, and gpio v 2.52, if any of those are relevant. The script is actually yours, from 2015, modified to use the GPIO pins I'm using, with t0=500 and t1=1000 and 3 repetitions instead of 6. In my case, I tie p...

Re: Python 433MHz wireless fob RX/TX

I'm having trouble getting _433.py to generate a waveform and wonder if anyone sees an obvious problem. I have a new (possibly defective) RioRand 433MHz transmitter and receiver connected to a Pi-4. I've verified that the pins are connected correctly by connecting GPIO pin 22 to transmitter data, ru...

Re: Raspberry PI as MQTT Broker and webserver

You never said you were running an unsupported configuration. Yes, sorry: I hadn't noticed that the specs cited only armhf for Raspberry Pi. My oversight: thanks to fruitoftheloom for noting that. Build from source, then run with sudo mosquitto -v to activate verbose logging. Thanks. I'll give that...

Re: Raspberry PI as MQTT Broker and webserver

Thanks for the suggestion re the Debian package. I suspended the project I was using MQTT for when I ran into long-term stability problems and I thought 1.6.12 might help resolve those. I'll keep the Debian option in mind when I get back to the project.

64-bit. I see now that the page specifies armhf and omits 64-bit.

Thanks!

Re: pi3b+ needs better power supply

Yup, the problem is many micro-USB cables have unknown specs. Some will have markings on them similar to this: USB_wire_gauge.jpg The outlined number is the power wire gauge (24 AWG in this case). I have micro-USB cables with 23, 21, 20 and even 19 AWG power wires, which all work great with my Pi3B...

Re: Zero W also resets during boot

Never mind. Short story: To power the Zeros in the field, I was using a rechargeable battery that *had* worked just fine -- I had collected data for some time with it. For most of my testing trying to debug the problem with the updated OS (to 5.4), I used that battery, fully charged. I did po...

Re: Zero W also resets during boot

Well, that's interesting. I must be just completely missing some trivial point. I downloaded the 32-bit raspios_full_armhf_latest desktop image from here https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspberry-pi-os/ It's dated 5/27. I copied it with [ unzip ... | dd ... ] to a fresh µSD card. Inserted it i...

Re: Zero W also resets during boot

@HawaiianPi, Thanks for the note. Could have been a temporary glitch in the update process, I suppose -- as I recall, I did all three updates in one afternoon. It doesn't seem to be a universal issue, or it was so short-lived that few with Pi Zero updating to 5.4 stumbled across it. I sure don't hav...

@mbainbridge, Thanks for posting ... good to know I'm not the only one still seeing this. I've got an HDMI on my Pi's but no external console port. Re: Zero W also resets during boot

I should have said that the upgrade was to 5.4.51. Two of the Zeros are W; one may not be. And, again, the odd thing is that I was careful to check them each (rebooting and trying a few simple commands) after the upgrades. Truly odd, and somewhat concerning about how the upgrade process might at som...

Re: Zero W also resets during boot

Was there a resolution to this issue with Pi Zeros getting stuck in a boot loop after a upgrade? I had three Pi Zeros that I updated, in succession, rebooting each one to check after its upgrade to make sure it worked. Then put them aside for a week. Now all three exhibit the same issue: boot, get t...

Re: STICKY: USB-MSD boot EEPROM third update - 2020-06-15

I thought the µSD polling might be because I hadn't put this dtoverlay=sdtweak,poll_once into config.txt. So I went to add it to the config.txt on that Pi and found that it was already there. So I'd guess that paulwratt is correct that it's a kernel issue and not an accidental omission of the poll_o...

Two data points re USB-MSD boot EEPROM firmware, both positive. First, a thanks to those who implemented this ... and those who tested to debug it. Both my Pi-4's are in production (not critical, but not sacrificeable) so I waited 'til "stable" before trying. Both systems I've installed on...

Never Mind. Re: Bluetooth pairing of Logitech K830 keyboard with Pi-4B: anyone done it?

Never mind. In reviewing my posting, I saw that I hadn't "trusted" the ...:F8 device. Did that, paired with the device again, and it works fine.

So the answer is: Yes, the Logitech K830 keyboard works as a bluetooth device off the RPi-4B.

Bluetooth pairing of Logitech K830 keyboard with Pi-4B: anyone done it?

I have a lovely Logitech K830 keyboard that I can't get paired with my RPi-4B as a Bluetooth device . It works fine with the "unifying receiver", but I don't want to take up a USB slot with that dongle. "bluetoothctl" sees the keyboard, knows its address, and knows it's a "K...

Ernst, thanks for the further explanation. With that I was able to update the firmware successfully. I was, indeed, booting from the µSD but redirecting to a USB drive, and fstab on that USB drive mounts /boot from the USB drive. "rpi-eeprom-update -a" did put the update files in /boot, bu...

Re: Pi Zero Buster OTG to OSX Mojave setup tips?

Incidentally, you should be able to connect to your Pi over wifi even if the USB link is connected. Just use the IP address of the wifi interface rather than the Pi's hostname. Yes, it was convenient to be able to log in via WiFi to fix the usb0 configuration settings, even though the usb0 port was...
