Re: DIY Efficient Raspberry pi Glasses

Regarding the cell phone screens, this has been discussed in other threads and is truly a tragedy of the times. There are two nearly insurmountable obstacles: Dsi output is totally inaccessible without access to the gpu binary blob Cell phone screens are hard to find specs for their pinouts There ar...

Re: Easy, Affordable Screen Solutions

Was the dvd player screen you are using an easy installation, or did you have to interface with some weird cable and write a driver for it?

Re: Easy, Affordable Screen Solutions

Yeah, it is plug and play with the pi. It has a mounting system designed for a car, so that would require some disassembly to not look kind of funny. I would probably do significant case destruction and rebuilding for that one.

Easy, Affordable Screen Solutions

I find it tragic that raw LCD's have such impassable barriers to use with the pi, and diy tech in general. I would like to see more information in this section of how to make functional things, rather than endless questions of whether things will work with no answer, or negatives. To that end, here ...

Re: Portable Pi, Using iPod Touch

<t>Being a network connection will have some latency issues, but this might not matter for what you're planning on doing. This is certainly the easiest way to get a pi to have a touch screen and keyboard in a package of this size. It won't have the same snappy feel of using a touch screen portable d...

Re: iPod Touch LCD + Digitizer on r-pi?

<t>The iPod touch and Iphone screens use a DSI connection, but no one seems to be able to say if sharing the same interface will be enough. I"m not technically savvy enough to know exactly how this works, but it sounded like it"s a DSI driver support issue. Powering the screen will have to be done s...

Re: Two Ideas: DPF/iPhone and Airplay PC

Using a beautiful, cheap, open source oriented piece of hardware to emulate the epitome of commercial software seems sort of evil to me.

I believe getting a touch screen on your RPi and using XBMC will be much easier and do what you want.

Re: Rasberry Pi usable for multi touch media program?

<r>The bigger challenges of a multi touch control surface are hardware elements, in my opinion. Many hacker spaces across the world have overcome these hurdles to fantastic success. There is a very fun surface running a variety of games in C-Base in Berlin, and Jigsaw Reneissance - a Seattle hackers...

Re: Is there a way to use the LCDs for, say, the PSP with the pi?

Appears the potential screens for the pi with minimal setup requirements are:

USB and Composite Rear View Displays

Iphone 3 & 4 Screens

Real Monitors

Which is a very short list.

Look forward to someone expanding on this list

<t>Class 10 is a bit of a shot in the dark in two ways. Firstly, It could be incompatible with the Pi. Secondly, you may take a hit on random speed because of class 10 architecture vs class 6 or lower.<br/> <br/> I just bought a 16gb class 6 off newegg for $13. 8gb are on sale for $8 all the time.<b...

Re: An open/free/secure/modular/extendable Raspberry Pi smartphone

<t>I'm very excited others are thinking in similar ways to me. I hope we can collaborate on this project. I have envisioned a very similar device, with perhaps less emphasis on being a full function phone but having many other mobile applications. Here are the components I am planning to start with:...
