That is not the kernel source. To compile a module for Linux you need to get the Linux source or headers and prepare it for compiling the module before then compiling the module. There is a script that can do it although I have never used it. Take a look here https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewt...

Re: I can;t configure my WiFI

If your network uses WEP then do not put ".." quotation marks around the WEP key like

Code: Select all

	wep_key0=<WEP-hex-key>
WEP is not secure these days so it would be better to change your network security to WPA/WPA2.

Re: Driver installation impossible? RTL8812AU

The long name you see for your wifi is how Raspbian Stretch originally named network devices. It was changed in the new updates so why you still see it like that I'm not sure. I think there is an option in raspi-config that will enable you to get the name back to wlanx, etc. I had a look at the driv...

You say that when I install a fresh Raspbian, RPI-Update, apt-get update/upgrade, Install-wifi-script then I can get it into monitor mode?
No, I did not say I used in in monitor mode. I have no idea if it could work in monitor mode. Probably not as you have found.

Don't know what your problem is, other than you want to use it in monitor mode, but the 8812au driver works fine on all my Pi ever since I started using it, B1, B+, 2B, 3B, 0, 0W. Never seen lshw before but installed it on my Pi 0 W and it shows pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo lshw -class network *-network:...

Re: Can i remove the old modules?

This can happen if you run rpi-update and then apt-get dist-upgrade after using rpi-update. rpi-update will install the latest kernel version but then running apt-get dist-upgrade will install the last stable kernel version which will generally install an older kernel version. It is fine deleting ol...
