Re: RPI3 - WiFi stops working after rpi-update

I've been able to rollback to an older version using rpi-update and the hash of a commit on github rpi firmware. Now, my WiFi and Bluetooth works again! GitHub Firmware : https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware/commits/master I've selected the commit of Oct 23, 2018 (kernel: Bump to 4.14.78 …). So ...

Re: pi zero w wpa_supplicant

Using Raspbian Stretch you should not edit file /etc/network/interfaces. If you do it can mess up the networking. File /etc/network/interfaces should be left like # interfaces(5) file used by ifup(8) and ifdown(8) # Please note that this file is written to be used with dhcpcd # For static IP, consul...

Hi, Thanks for all this work. I tried it on the older kernel, 4.14.79 and the connection continusly dropped. Updated to 4.14.82 and the makefile does not work. I have : sudo make -f Makefile.r92su make -C /lib/modules/4.14.82-v7+/build M=/home/pi/rtl8192su/r92su CONFIG_R92SU=m CONFIG_R92SU_WPC=y EX...

Re: rpi-update error

The rpi-update command loads the Testing branch kernel and firmware, which may by buggy or unstable. Unless you actually want to test possibly buggy and unstable software to report errors, don't rpi-update. The proper way to upgrade Raspbian to the latest stable kernel and firmware is: sudo apt upd...

Re: rpi-update error

Had a look at rpi-update and found this line in the code

Code: Select all

SKIP_SDK=${SKIP_SDK:-0}
Added SKIP_SDK=1 to the rpi-update command and the error no longer appeared. e.g.

Code: Select all

sudo SKIP_SDK=1 rpi-update
Would be helpful if someone can explain the initial issue I had with the sdk directory not existing.

Re: My own Retro homecomputer called RhoCoCo

One way to avoid having to need to use an EEPROM Programmer to program/re-program the EEPROM is to replace the EEPROM with a CMOS Flash memory chip such as the Atmel AT29C256 or similar. Requires a minor modification by connecting the processor write signal to the flash memory and then the CMOS Flas...

Your new Pi 3B+ actually appears to be an old Pi B+.

Setting up a new SD card yesterday with the latest Rasbian image, 2018-10-09-raspbian-stretch, and just got the message to replace the default raspberry password as normal.

No sign of being forced to set a new password.

You will probably need to download the ISO and copy it to a CD/DVD to use it.

The driver itself works perfectly for me, but I have some issues with installing & updating. Of course you won't be able to download this driver on the pi itself without it having the driver (unless you connect it via ethernet, which is not an option on the A+ or an embedded system). This isn't tha...
