Re: RPi not visible in Windows network WORKGROUP

Been following this thread this morning and out of curiosity installed smb on one of my Pi, updated /etc/samba/smb.conf as suggested and I now finally appear to have things working. Last thing I needed to do was to create the smbpasswd for user pi and now I can access my Pi directly from my windows ...

Re: (UPDATE) Drivers for TL-WN725N V2 - 3.6.11+ -> 4.xx.xx+

I've been checking out the mt7610 driver on various Pi. Kind of works OK although it seems it doesn't like being to far from the wifi AP. Tried on a Pi 4, Pi 3 an old Pi B+. Came across this old post of mine explaining why I stopped compiling the mt7610 driver. https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/vie...

Well, the driver is there. I guess you are missing the necessary firmware it needs to run the wifi module. You can check the firmware is missing using command dmesg | less and scroll through the data using up and down arrow keys and key q to terminate the command. I got the error [86262.132356] mt76...

Hi MrEngman, I too am in need of a driver for the DWA-181. I've tried the method listed above to no avail. Is it possible to have the driver added to your installation tool? Thanks, I have updated my install-wifi script to handle this wifi module. You can download and install the script using comma...

Hi MrAmir, Sorry for the delay in responding. I've found this newer version of the 8188eu driver, v5.3.9, specifically configured to be able to use monitor mode. https://github.com/aircrack-ng/rtl8188eus It compiles for kernel 4.19.xx without needing any changes and supports your wifi module. An SD card image can have up to 4 kernel revisions installed depending on the version of Raspbian installed and a set of modules to run with each different kernel revision. This will allow you to take your SD card and use it with different versions of Pi. At the moment I have a Pi3B+ and the SD card...

For Pi 2B you need the driver version 8192su-4.19.75 -v7 -1270.tar.gz For each Pi use command uname -a and check the kernel version and build number . As an example:- On my Pi Zero uname -a shows "Linux Pi-0-b 4.19.88 + # 1284 Wed Dec 11 13:41:36 GMT 2019 armv6l GNU/Linux" On my Pi B uname -a shows ...
