I'm having a similar issue. Have you resolved yours? Also, how were you able to determine that the buttons work okay if your display isn't functional?

I was getting video long enough to get through raspi-config, then after reboot, nothing. I still have red and green LED's, but no video. I transferred cables to a different pi, a pi2, and it works fine. Any suggestions?
