You're still software decoding mjpeg on the cpu. I can't recall if the mmal_dec codec can do mjpeg or not, which should be hardware accelerated for decode.
What resolution are you getting from your ip camera?
640 x 480

Re: Hw acceleration on ffmpeg

Sorry, the command should be:

Code: Select all

ffmpeg -f mjpeg -i "http://user:[email protected]:xxx/mjpeg.cgi" -c:v h264_omx -an output.mp4
It says Using OMX.broadcom.video_encode, but %CPU goes to 99% anyway, when a comparable gstreamer command uses around 30 %CPU...

Hw acceleration on ffmpeg

Hi, Raspbian October 2018 adds hw acceleration to ffmpeg (from http://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspbian/release_notes.txt) Can I use it to convert mjpeg from an IP camera to mp4? The following works, but doesn`t look like it uses hw acceleration: ffmpeg -f mjpeg -i "http://user:[email protected].xxx.x.xx:xx...

Re: RPi3 Raspbian and Gstreamer1.0

Once I found a good article on onepitwopi.com with instructions and a script to compile GStreamer 1.2 on a Raspberry Pi. The website is gone but you still can find the article at http://web.archive.org/web/201511010551 ... spberry-pi

Recording IP Camera (video+audio) with FFMPEG

Hi, I'm trying to combine MJPEG and audio from a D-LINK camera using FFMPEG. ffmpeg -f mjpeg -i http://user:[email protected].168.1.94:9094/mjpeg.cgi -channel_layout mono -thread_queue_size 128 -i http://user:[email protected].168.1.94:9094/audio.cgi -map 0:v -vcodec copy -map 1:a -acodec copy -y outfile.avi It works...

Re: Using Python to detect my iPhone

It's my understanding that you can wake up your iPhone with a TCP three-way (Synchronize) handshake on port 62078.
I'm also interested in detecting iPhones connected to my network.

Has anyone implemented this?

Re: Android code editor for Python

I obviously searched and I'm testing a few while reading reviews. Will post again when deciding which one suits me best, maybe it'll help someone else in the future. But looking for github compatability is a good idea... Maybe someone that actually uses any of the code editors on Android can share t...

Android code editor for Python

I believe this is relevant in this forum (sorry if it isn't).

Just bought a Nexus 7, would like to eventually use it to edit some Python code on the go.

Can you recommend any Android code editor with integrated FTP to make editing code in the Raspberry more efficient?

Thanks

Shairport stutters with Comfast (RTL8188CUS) WIFI dongle

Shairport works fine playng a song via AirPlay from an iPad when the Raspberry Pi is connected through Ethernet, but stutters and stops when using a Wifi Comfast dongle based on the RTL8188CUS chipset. Terminal and VNC access become unusable too. Has anyone found this problem?

Your feedback is really welcome, thanks!

Just in case others are deciding on a framework, there is an extensive list at https://wiki.python.org/moin/WebFrameworks

Do you see noticeable delays using Flask? Do you run concurrent tasks or heavy scripts?

Built-in http server or framework

I will use a Raspberry PI as a server to run python scripts from an ethernet connected Arduino (to encode short ip camera videos, send notifications through the internet and sync files to dropbox, for example). Thinking about using Python's 3 http server to run the scripts as CGI, but would like to ...

Re: Record camera video

Hi John, Taking a series of snapshots is a good idea, but I'm currently exploring the Raspberry hardware acceleration capabilities with the help of the GStreamer-devel discussion list. I've used Python 3 with GStreamer to encode video from the foscam camera and will create a web service that the Ard...

Re: Record camera video

jbeale and Hugh-Roger, Perhaps I have not explained my setup properly... The door sensor has an 433.92MHz transmitter and I have an Arduino with RF receiver and Ethernet shield that receives the signal from the sensor and sends a notification through the Internet. I already have a Raspberry Pi rev.B...

Re: Record camera video

The Pi camera image quality seems nice but I'm leaning towards using IP cameras because they are easier to find in Brazil and Foscam clones are cheaper than buying a second Pi. And I'll probably install a second camera pointing to the front door and I want to see if a single Raspberry can handle bot...

Re: Record camera video

Jay found a nice way of saving video from a Foscam ip camera to the Pi at http://wrice.blogspot.com.br/2013/07/record-foscam-ip-camera-streaming-video.html . Tested his script and worked fine, still need to trigger recording from the Arduino, limit the recording length and maybe upload the resulting...

Record camera video

I've installed a magnetic sensor on my door to receive notifications on Notify My Android and Prowl whenever that door is opened (through a 433.92MHz receiver connected to an Arduino UNO with Ethernet shield and PushingBox). I also would like to record a 5 to 30 second video triggered by the same se...
