Congratz! The Raspberry Pi is really taking off to unforeseen heights.

Most of the students that I know from my Linux class at Mesa Community College have been working with the Pis. Great tool for schools. :)

Reminds me of my school experience……taking my own zx81 kit into school for o level technology lessons! It’s only taken 30 years to get back to that point! What we must ensure is that schools still invest in ICT and promote its use. I’m concerned that the subject may be marginalised and not invested in.

Man, this is awesome but I have to admit I’m prety jealous. I never had this quality of education at a young age (bar a few goes with a spectrum and a BBC in primary school) and was completely turned away from computing until my mid twenties.

Such as shame, I bet I’d be so much futher ahead now if I had the opportunities these guys are giving these kids. All the best to them, it’s time we stopped repeating the mistakes of our past.

15,000 Pi’s is great!! Question about how you plan to manage monitors/keyboards/mice. We were thinking of giving each student a Pi (Pi, case, power, SD card) along with a keyboard, mouse and HDMI cable. That makes the total cost per student just under $100. We figure that they are good at home for the monitor, we just then need to get a set for the school.

Are we creating little monsters ?

I am on a STEM board in Iowa. I am trying to get these out to the students in Iowa. I have three of these that I have been showing to fellow STEM board members. Every day I become more convinced that Raspberry Pi should be put into schools in Iowa.

Fantastic to see the video. We are an IBM Business Partner in Australia and we are looking at setting up a project to donate a number of Pis to state schools each month from our own pocket. We hope to use peer pressure and guilt to get other Australian IT companies to do the same. As for the monitors, keyboards, etc. Whenever we sell new kit to customers there are always old components that would otherwise go to scrap piles. Hopefully we can look at recycling some of these.
