Aluminium case

Hello,
I've just finished with my new project "Raspberry Pi aluminium case"
Why aluminium?
Because I want to make cooling more effective with this type of material.
Soon I'll be able to sell it.
You can choose the color and decoration on the lid.

Thanks I think the price will be about 19$.

A lot of people think they need more cooling on the Pi.
They are wrong.
Remember, the chips on this board were designed to run things like cell phones - no ventilation or cooling of any kind.

That said, I do like the idea of an aluminum case because I may need a "less destructible" case for hard mobile use.
Let us know when it's ready to sell.
At $19 I would buy one.

Look at it this way: The Pi uses about 350mA when idle and with some peripherals you're looking at 500mA. So when you'd power it with a typical 1500mA battery of a mobile phone you'd get 3 hours of usage. How long does your phone last when it's idle all the time and just keeps connected? Mine, a Nexus S, about five days.

That said, a plastic case with a few small holes will be fine, no need to use aluminium for cooling reasons. But if I put a Pi in my padded camera bag (I tried) the inside of the bag will get really warm while my phone in my trouser pocket never gets warm. You cannot compare the Pi's power consumption to a phone.

Add a little fine mesh screening to the inside of the lid. Paint it red & green for effect!

I sell the base of construction that's why I made the case. Everyone can make experiments with it. According to me with mini cooling fan it will freeze

It does have the advantage to shield from EMI better than plastic.

Personally, I don't worry about heat. But I think some of the problems I see on the forum, might come from interference. One of the first things I plan to do, is figure out a way to measure EMI/RFI going in and out of the RPi.

The Raspberry Pi generates a substantial amount of RFI in the HF spectrum. There's a need for a metal enclosure that will reduce these RFI levels. Ham radio operators are using the RPi as a network server for SDR radio and they need a reasonably-priced case to provide shielding. If RF leakage from the ventilation holes is minimized, this looks like a good solution.

Also, +1 to Cosmo's idea about the mesh. I think that would really look nice.

According to plastic sheet YES it will have some type of material (rubber maybe)
