Can the Raspberry Pi Foundation possibly try to convince Apple to port a version of Mac OS X for
RPi?
It's really not the software I'm looking for, mainly the desktop layout and how you edit things and such. So, if my first question's answer is "No," can anyone direct me to a similar user-created version?
Mac OS X (or redirect me to something very similar)

Has been discussed to death already.
Look and Feel : By the time you've arrived there you would
already be familiar with Raspbian.
You could try this :

I would be astonished if that experience is satisfying.

So sorry but the post above is as good as it gets for launchers

Easy answer : not a hope in hell. Any linux/unix system has more than passing similarities to OS X especially at the command prompt level since OS X is a unix variant. But you're not going to get actual OS X on a Pi.
Don't judge Linux by the Pi.......

Won't help you with the "look & feel", but you could come close at the kernel level by running...FreeBCD.

Surely you mean FreeBSD ? viewforum.php?f=85
or maybe NetBSD ? viewforum.php?f=86
It can likely be used with "NextSTEP" Window Maker http://windowmaker.org
The reason is that Apple OS X is based of NextSTEP which is related to BSD............................................................

iOS is pretty much the same as OS X, so technically I doubt Apple would have much trouble making it work.
However this is Apple we are talking about. The chance is remote.
Probably many orders of magnitude worse that say the odds of Micosoft producing a free WIndows 8 version for the Pi.

There's no point saying its remote that Apple will help, it's just not going to happen. There is zero benefit to Apple other than philanthropy (which they can do with money, not their moneymaker OS), and there is only a world of pain for them if they did.
If you want OSX, Raspberry Pi is the wrong device for you. Get a Mac Mini. Almost as small.
Some good tips in this thread about skinning to look like OSX. Knock yerself out.

It might be possible though to cross-compile Apple's Darwin OS for ARM. Darwin is the OSX base system and is available under an open source license from Apple's Open Source Website. Darwin does not include the OSX desktop but the command-line part is the same as for OSX and you can install X11 on it so you can use any X11 supported desktop and applications.
Take a look at DarwinBuild for more info on compiling Darwin.
Note: Compiling software is for advanced users only

If it's not broke... I'm not done fixing it!
