open elec wifi problems

i am having trouble connecting my raspberry pi running XBMC openElec to my wireless network i have entered all the right SSID and password but it still does not connect i know the wifi adapter works under Linux because i have got it to connect to wireless using raspbian wheezy i have tried googling it and so far have not found a solution.
