YOU SUCK: the venting thread
Prodigit, I'm sorry but your post was deleted. I'm not sure if you were trying to be funny, or not, but either way even for a venting thread, that post was extremely out of line. Please keep it respectful.
Dear forum: Play nice
Android tablets* suck.
Let me be clear, they really are ok as media players, but beyond that comfort zone, they are really terrible. On screen keyboards are disgusting, positioning a cursor with a fingertip to highlight a few characters is an exercise in futility and navigating a crowded webpage is soul destroying.
I've got an Archos thingy - nice 8" capacitive screen, dual core processor, etc. Ok for browsing email, the interweb, playing mp3s and looking at movies. Then I wanted to respond to something on the forum.
ARGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
So I fired up the netbook and had a wonderful experience whizzing about with the touchpad and typing on the REAL keyboard.
So. Rant over.
But I'm really getting tired of the "tablet experience". Software is limited and I don't like having to do everything through "app stores", they remind me of the concept of employers Truck Shops in the 18th century. And they're not even as flexible as a netbook.
* Yes I said "Android tablet", because thats what I've got. However, I'm sure the same applies for the iPad n too.

I'm looking into using my USB keyboard with one of the various Android devices we have about the house until Pi's are available. My niece has a cute little Pandigital tablet she got for Christmas that's gathering dust on her windowsill. I'm hoping she tires of it cos I'm itching to get my hands on it and see if I can blow away the Android stack and tweak-up an Xwin interface for it. Quite possible as it has USB host, but no external connector.

Remember the annoyance you're feeling and use it positively. I remember feeling exactly the same frustration when I was 13. Smart folks won't just judge a person by their age, but will listen to what they have to say. If you're smart and you feel that you're not being listened to, then it's not your fault - it's the fault of those around you. Move on and keep making noise!
Where was I?
Oh yeah. Bloody weather! The Earth has travelled nearly 600 million miles this year in order to plough through the cosmic sandstorm that is the Geminid meteor shower, but the show has been cancelled thanks to cloud a mere mile above the Earth's surface (somewhere above Torquay, to be precise).
Not impressed. Not impressed at all.

"Yesterday In Parliament" interrupting "Test Match Special" on Radio 4 long wave. Again. What the Hell's that all about? I had to get up to do the internet radio streaming thing.
Parliament, you suck!

Christmas
It only comes once a year, but when it does it comes like a steam train.
So only a day or so ago, it was summer. Sun shone, rain fell, the usual, plenty of time to get the Christmas cards, no hurry.
And now, here we are, no cards to send and last posting to Outer Mongolia already past. What happened?
Looking forward to the Hootanany

Love my Android tablets - I really don't have problems with the virtual keyboards now that I've turned off auto correct.

Used to, yes, back when the printer drivers came on a 720K floppy instead of a 360+ MB download.
The entire government and administration in Ireland (saying they suck would be too kind) they are beneath contempt.
Little Androids - Big Suck
Try to find one of those little Chinese Android tablets or Netbooks this year (not the cell-phone variety, mind you). Last Christmas you had to kick them out of the way just to cross a sales floor, this season they're nowhere to be found. Guess the cheesy little things with the non-Google app market left a sour taste in many folks mouths. No, they're not "iPads", but they're damn handy to have around. I miss the little fellers.

Except for perhaps waiting in all day for a courier that never shows up like I did today after booking a collection through a company that rhymes with A*******s2go.
