Kind of hard to see it but here's one on ebay that someone has cut the USB off of to make it flush with a macbook pro.

I believe your word for it, but it probably will not work. It looks like it can work as microSD adapter to SD adapter OR to USB card reader. Cutting it out will left you with a pice of junk plastic. But I could be wrong...

The idea is to just cut off the USB part and it should work, however there is always the possible problem of it not working in the R-Pi for some random reason releating to hardwar compatibility being limited.

I'm considering ordering the Norcent one since I might need a 2GB standrd microSD (non HC) card for something else, not so much for the R-Pi but rather my MacBook Pro.

I'm interested but it hasn't entered production yet and the prices are on the high side making me less interested when this solution is available at the present and has had some success. I may buy one later for my MacBook Pr and then move the home made option to the R-Pi, but otherwise I have no real need for a flush SD card other than allowing for a sleeker case design.

I have bought two of these

I just split the case open, trim the USB section off the board and then cut the case down. After that I fill the gap where the USB section was, sand it smooth and colour it in with a black marker.

Works a treat. To aid removal have a loop of sticky tape hanging out the back of the adaptor.

I have made two Micro SD adapters from these

They are quick, easy and sit about flush with most cases. When trimmed the SD adapter is 19.5mm long

Here is how I do it.
Split the case apart and remove the PCB .

Trim the PCB. I use good side cutters and cut just along the edge of the black blob.

Part 2.

The gap left behind from the departed USB connector has been filled with a mixture of superglue and talcum powder. Be very careful here as it is very easy to push the mixture in too far and the micro SD card will no longer fit.

Inspired by this topic, I decided to cut my SD card in half. I was a little worried beforehand, so made a tutorial to reassure future case modders that it's safe to do with my brand of card!

I bought one of these minidrives for mine: http://amzn.to/Zph6Ya

They are pretty handy, and functionally equivalent to the expensive Nifty Minidrive. You can buy 'em without the endcap so that it'll be a no-frills addition to your board (though, I got one with the cap for my Mac, and it sits flush and looks perfect).

im just suprised no one has made a lead that comes out and you can plug the sd card into the lead so itsnot sticking out?
