wireless xbox 360

Hi

Downloaded and installed xboxdrv software and attached USB wireless receiver

the software does detect the controller and the receiver and controller are synced up but all i'm getting is all 4 Player LED's flashing

anyway to fix this?

-w, --wid 1 command does not seem to work..?

as far as I know that driver only works for wired controllers

From what I read it does (even driver says it does)

Needed to use SUDO command

sudo xboxdrv --wid 0 -s -l 2 --dpad-as-button --deadzone 12000

So just to confirm, the wireless xbox controller definitely works?

Or can I just use a ordinary USB Wi-Fi Network card/dongle?

Yes you need a dedicated receiver like the one you posted. When you plug it in you press a Sync button on both controller and pad

The 360 pad may be a 2.4ghz radio device as is wifi but that does not make them compatible the same way bluetooth and wifi aren't compatible (which I believe is also 2.4ghz) and the 2.4ghz RC car remotes arent compatible....



Also do not be fooled into thinking a play and charge USB cable will enable you to use a wireless xbox controller on the PC. The play and charge USB cable has the data lines shorted out, this means that they dont carry data between the controller and the host (in this case a pi) and should force the USB socket into charger mode. Not all USB devices support charge mode, but basically a USB 2 port normally should only supply half an amp maximum, in charge mode if the host device supports it the USB socket should have that current restriction removed and should instead supply whatever it can sustain without damage (or more commonly 2 amps, charge mode is optional on the USB spec so the spec may say unlimited power but much more than 2 amps isn't really feasible so manufacturers if they do add charge mode tend to cap it at 2 amps). End result is that the USB port supplies power to the controller to charge it but won't appear as a USB device anywhere.

I have this receiver and xbox 360 wireless controller, and have tried to get it to work with emulationstation and retropi.

I have installed xboxdrv etc. Im not able to get it to work inside emulationstation or in the games. Do I have to connect the receiver through an external usb hub or is it ok to connect it straight to the raspberry Pi?
