Released the first pre-built OS image for the glint-nes project. It's 8 GB (I know, pretty big - I'll make them smaller in the future, I promise). Looking for downloaders/testers.
Great! I've also created a BitTorrent server that will (hopefully) be an always-on, permanent seed, that lives on the west coast of the US. I'll probably add a second one in Ireland, perhaps this weekend.
The idea is that I'd prefer to distribute it via BitTorrent, and these two servers, being permanent seeds, and being on the really fast Amazon network, should give awesome download speeds to the US and Europe.
FYI, I was able to chop the original 8 GB image down to just 2 GB, so it's really no bigger than the official Raspbian distro at this point. The link that I gave in the original post now only links to the 2 GB version (which, other than the size of the download, is essentially identical in its content).
Unfortunately, some folks have reported that the image doesn't work (that you can image the SD card, but that the Raspberry Pi won't boot from it). I'm looking into the issue and will report back after some additional testing.
Also, there's now a dedicated releases/downloads page to help centralize the distribution of the pre-built OS images: http://karmanebula.com/glint-downloads
