Touchscreens for Raspberry Pi

Hey ,
I thought of using a touchscreen display along with my raspberry pi and couldn`t find a suitable solution yet....
I was wondering if there is a touchscreen already available for the raspberry p i?
If there is not, then could any of you suggest a quick way to start using the raspberry pi with a touch screen ?

Don't know what your price point is but the one in the link below may work for you. You'll need a calibrating program for the touch screen, but several are available for Debian.

I have one on order from AliExpress. I'll let everyone know if it works. Fingers crossed.

you may want to make sure its got drivers that work. i got the comparable TouchKit monitor, and so far have been unable to get the touch support to work. will be spending more time on it saturday, but i have lots to learn lol

Oops I apparently ordered the model without the touchscreen. So I will have a 10" LCD HDMI monitor for sale if anyone is interested. Reordered the touchscreen model (I hope), so my evaluation will be delayed a week or two.

No, I don't know for sure how the touchscreen interfaces with the host computer. It said RS232/USB, so I am hoping USB HID protocol, we'll see what I get. The pictures show a Mini/Micro USB port on the monitor must be for the touch screen what else would it be for?

I looked again. I see what I think is an HDMI port between the power and DVI, but I am missing where the USB port is.

They are getting pixel resolution and dot resolution mixed up.

The native pixel resolution of this display is 800x480, so 384000 pixels. Dots is a useless term used by sales types to infer a higher resolution - they are counting each component (R, G and B) of each pixel, hence where they arrive at 3 x 384000, 1152000. Although as I said, it should read:

Panel Size 8" TFT LCD 1152000 dots
Native (pixel) Resolution 800×480 (VGA)

And yes, it does mean it's not an HD monitor. It will accept a HD signal but throw away all but a fraction of the information in it.

Make sense, when i was calculating the dot I cound not find how they say hd was working, now i understand, its stupid downscaling the resolution, so many peoples will buy this monitor and think they truly support the hd since its just rescaling the graphics...

Was just looking around for more touchscreens which would probably work with the RaspberryPi, and found this:

Seems like it should be pretty straightforward to work - again depending on driver availability.

Would the capacitive version be a lot more expensive? I was thinking of getting a 7 or 8-inch.

I would ideally want to use it in a portrait mode, is that possible under the standard settings?

Just looking to use it as a kiosk mode with a browser showing specially formatted pages in full page mode.

Not to beat a dead horse, but the Kindle Touch has one...

I finally recieved the NON-touchscreen I mistakenly ordered from Ali-Express http://bit.ly/Quhh0W . Aside from not having a touch function, it works great with my Raspberry Pi. It has HDMI, VGA, Composite inputs, built-in speaker that sound pretty good. It will make a very nice portable display for the Raspberry Pi. Sound works great through the HDMI. It displays at 1024x768. Its about the size of a 10.1 tablet (not including the stand). See a picture of it displaying Raspbmc at: http://bit.ly/MTowds

I should have the touchscreen model in a couple of days, I'll report more.

At $140 it's a pretty good deal for a 7" touch screen, HDMI input with USB for the touch feature. I'd like an explanation on the resolution though, it says 800x480 native but somehow it can use up to 1080p? What? I'm sure that's some kind of marketing scam but they do show a screenshot of choosing the resolution and sure enough, it lists up to 1920x1080.

Looks very nice. I think it must scale down 1080p to the native resolution. IMO, with a 7" screen, 1920x1080 would make everything so tiny you would need a magnifying glass to use it. I think in all of these products, finding a touchscreen driver will be the challenge. I am hoping the Touchkit Driver for Debian will work http://www.touchkit.com/drivers.htm for these cheap LCD screens. We'll see when my AliExpress touchscreen arrives.

Very nice. The price and size is more than I am looking for. But nice to see it working on the AOC touchscreen without special drivers.

There's a capacitive multi touch panel available for a decent price. Little rich for my blood, but it could be really useful to some people. It's the Fusion displays, comes in 4" $105, 7" $174 and 10" $260 models.

I have the possibility of getting a touchscreen from work that's basically headed to the WEEE as it's unused..

The screen part has got a VGA connector.. I know that for this I can obtain a HDMI adaptor.
It also has a little 9-pin scart(?) thingy to operate the touch panel which is a 3M Multitouch panel, exact model number unknown. For which I can get a USB to Serial 9-Pin male adaptor. The entire kaboodle runs off a normal kettle lead into the mains.

The question I have is- would this WORK? I plugged it (without adaptors) into my work PC which sadly runs on Windoze 7, and downloaded and installed the drivers and it was all fine. But that's windoze.. And the pi, should I get one, will be debian-based linux like my home boxes(?) But it's a custom distro isn't it, much stripped down I imagine, and, well.. I don't want to buy one until I have a screen ready because I'll go mad with impatience!

Have someone already used Dell ST2220T ? This monitor should be HID compliant and supported by linux.

This model is discessed on forum but i don't know if exist a driver compatible with debian.
Before buying it, I would like to know if someone has allready used it with debian.
