ax206term is just a terminal console. The other ported programs can be found here. The dpf-ax SVN comes with a sample lcd4linux conf file and the build script should work too. I'll be trying lcd4linux out on my R-Pi soon. lcd4linux can certainly display images and pydpf would too.

Thanks very much! I'll have a go and see how I get on.

Mine was from dealextreme.com, but be warned they can change stock. It works with Ax206term, yet to try the others though.

This is one neat little trick. Too bad the larger photo frames tend to run off memory cards instead of direct USB transfers to internal memory. *clicks the "watch thread" button*

Going slightly off-topic here, but some Samsung frames - the larger frames can do these:

Nice work with the ax206term! Did anyone of you get the DPF working with lcd4linux on the RPi? I successfully flashed my DPF (it's the China Version, dx21334b). However, with the example config from dpf-ax, lcd4linux cannot find the DPF:
My guess is that the port identifier is different on the RPi, i already tried usb, or usbdev1.4 (which is the the port reported by dmesg).
Can anyone help me? I'll try the st2205term/ax206term now, already compiling...
Best,
Max.
- Code: Select all
$ ./lcd4linux -f ../dpf.conf -F
Found AX206 DPF
Got LCD dimensions: 0x0
dpf: cannot open dpf device usb0
Error initializing driver DPF: Exit!

Shame on me... of course lcd4linux needs to run with sudo. It's working now

wonder what it would take to get them to make a raspberry shaped one:
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/1-5-lcd-he ... 32?item=14
(edited to the 1.5" display heart shaped one, more raspberry approximate already)
That one is so close, a little sharpie details and some glued on leaves and you are there.

funny, I cannot send PMs yet (started posting here today) -- I bought this display from eBay (Germany in my case, but it's an international seller):

Alas, too nice/tempting. Ordered one on the off chance it's a supported model.

Hello, can explain how you installed the LCD in the RPI?
You can do a How to, what I have with the Firm_21334a of Superelchi, but when compiling in Raspberry does not work. I have the same error as above you.
regards

I can try to help. Do you have errors with compiling lcd4linux or with permissions
- Code: Select all
dpf: cannot open dpf device usb0
Error initializing driver DPF: Exit!
If it is compiling errors, just make sure the dependencies are sorted out, this is IIRC
- Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install autoconf libtool libusb-dev python2.6-dev
then build-dpf-lcd4linux.sh should execute smoothly.
The permission error was solved with sudo but lcd4linux will also complain on the permissions of dpf.conf so if this is done from lcd4linux directory inside dpf-ax directory
- Code: Select all
chmod g-r-x,o-r-x ../dpf.conf

Thank you so much
This is what I get on the console

Try copying libdpf.so to /usr/local/lib. I've also uploaded my lcd4linux folder with compiled binary from my Pi to here

Assuming libdpf.so is in /usr/local/lib, try this
- Code: Select all
ldconfig /usr/local/lib

@gabychan
You were supposed to compile dpf-ax to obtain libdpf.so which is in the Debug folder of dpf-ax. Anyway here's my copy

Hello,
If it can help somebody, I already launched a subject about this in august (a long time ago ^^) :
viewtopic.php?f=46&t=428
Don't know if it may help but I had the hack working on a cheap asian NAS (so ARM hardware...).
In the last answers the subject was changing to "working lcd screens".
At least it will help google
.
Should I link this topic in a reply of the previous topic ? [which should be closed then]
Gabriel
ps : I'm going to use the screen of a "coby dp-152 keychain digital photo frame" in this project : viewtopic.php?f=35&t=7739 and I will add pictures soon.
