Hey there guys, just wondering if there be any Pi users in the lovely GTA (Ontario)?
Thrakazod declares that this post can not go wrong!
I'm a 'would-be' Pi owner just east of Toronto.

I'm certainly open to the idea, depending on timing and location. I'd like to wait until I actually have a Pi, and have some experience with the real thing first though. at least then we'd have something to talk about:-)
Who did (those of you who have their Pi's) a tally order from? I've been in Allied Electronic limbo since March 5th, and trying to figure out how much longer the wait might be.

I'm in the GTA. Got my PI a couple weeks ago. Still playing with different images and learning more day by day. Got mine through Newark/element14.

hmm - Allied is apparently still waiting to RECEIVE it's first shipment of Pi's, and hasn't distributed any yet (this is based on the recent update from RS and Allied Electronics which you'll find in the forums)
Looks like I've still got a long wait - at least in the summer the are plenty of other things to do

How many of you canuckleheads got your order in with RS? I have mine and my buddy's Pi is en rout. I talked to Humber ( a college bordering Mississauga/ Brampton/ Toronto) and from what I understand is that they would be more then happy to open their doors for a Pi Fest! If anyone has any Ideas, comments, suggestions or rude gestures, please leave em below.
Happy coding all!

Glad to see some GTA people posting. I'm currently located in the inner city.
I'm also a would-be Raspberry Pi owner. I have two pre-orders, one from Allied and the other from RS.
I'm expecting both in September....
I'd be happy to attend a meetup, especially after receiving my first Pi.

Sounds good. If you all want, I can start inquiring further with Humber 'bout renting a room. Let me know what you think!

Why don't you organise a Raspberry Jam?
Find out what a RaspberryJam is by reading this post. http://teachcomputing.wordpress.com/2012/05/30/whats-a-raspberry-jam/
You can watch a recording from the talks section of a recent London RaspberryJam here, http://youtu.be/Zes8k5U2ZZk
or read a blog post from the same meeting. http://thescientificmoustache.wordpress.com/2012/06/21/raspberry-pi-i-london-raspberry-jam/

Hi Folks,
I am a would-be-Pi owner too. I ordered mine through RS and my ETA to receive it is in early October.
I am located in North GTA, in the Richmond Hill area.
Good luck to us all.

There was a meeting of about 15 folk last Thursday, July 5. Sorry to have posted this after the fact but I only just noticed this thread.
I believe there will be a Raspberry Pi stream at the October FSOSS seminar in October. See:

I have one coming this week, can't wait to get it. Checked Newark.ca and the said they had 100 in stock so I ordered 2 more for fun...
I would love to go to a raspberry jam. Not sure I could contribute anything, but I would attend any sessions to learn what I can... Pretty new to Linux...
I did just recently purchase a beagle board xM, and messed with that, but I do like this little pi.
I'm in Woodbridge so Humber college is no far...

Electronics for fun...
Raspberry Pi-1 Occidentalist, Tenda 311m x 2
Raspberry Pi-2 Raspbian Wheezy 07-15-12, Netgear N150 x1
Genius 8000 slimline wireless keyboard and mouse both work great with the usb wifi dongle right in the raspberry pi.

hmm.. well if we are all with the same frame of mind, I would like to do an exhibition of sorts. Almost like a show and tell/ help thy fellow man out kind of thing. I too am new to Linux, but have managed to hammer some things out. I hope to hear more from you all soon.
Thanks to all who have responded thus far

Bumping because my first pi finally arrived.
Already played around with it a decent amount. Anyone still interested in a gathering?

Have you added yourselves to the Raspberry Pi tracker? Then you can see where Pi people are.
If distances are too great, you could organise an online Raspberry Jam. Not quite the same as meeting people in real life, but better than nothing.
