Put your names down if you want in, somebody has to get the ball rolling! By starting the ball rolling, I am in no way setting myself up to run the show, just interested in numbers and maybe a few months after launch a meet up some place with a view to regular meets. If anybody knows what they are doing with that then that is fine by me!

I'm in Sheffield and will probably doing something with the nice people from the GISTLab as it's a good home for many things geek around here.
Probably a website worth keeping an eye on.

Anybody interested in a Lancashire Pi group as Yorkshire can't have something that Lancashire doesn't.

Hmm I thought that 'The Soviet Socialist Peoples Republic of Yorkshire' was more of a state of mind rather than a physical place
.
BTW I must go back up there to do some walking, it's been such a very very long time since I was there.

What a great idea - I can see many more local user groups appearing.
I think a lot of people may merge the Pi group with their local Linux User Groups.

I have mine plus a friends to play with if people can travel 40 minutes out of Sheffield I know a place where we can geek out and the food & beer are inexpensive.
As I don't know Sheffield I'm open to suggestions closer to the city - I've dropped an email to the GISThub to see if they can host.

I'm in Lincoln so not too far away.
I came here this evening to try and see if there was any interest in a group somewhere near me but you might have beaten me to it!
I can do weekend meetups for definite, weeknights not so much as I would have to drive and I only passed my driving test on Monday so Sheffield is a bit too far atm!

What about an ex-Lancastrian who emigrated to the dark side (Doncaster) 6 years ago?
Arguing with an engineer is like wrestling with a pig in mud ..... after a while you realise that the pig likes it!
