Web OS (HP)?

I hope someone ported Web OS to Raspberry pi.
I would be grateful.
Web OS is open source now so it would not be a problem, or I'm wrong?
Web OS requires 256MB RAM to work.
I think it was wrong what you say?

Id buy that for a dollar... You get my drift. Webos would be excellent on the raspberry pi imo.

Web OS for the most part is closed source, but Luna, the window manager can be compiled, no telling whether it'll run on top of Linux or not, but I can give it a shot. Will report with my results as soon as I can.

WebOS is closed source, but Open WebOS is coming. Next month they will release the first beta and in september Open WebOS 1.0. Look at the roadmap http://openwebosproject.org/overview
You need only someone, who want to port it for rpi.

I'm going to attempt porting Luna to linux and then I'll see from there, I don't even know what WebOS really is so if porting Luna becomes a tough task then I'm not the guy you're looking for, however I am increasingly close to getting android onto the Raspberry Pi, so expect some update soon.

I wonder if a Debian ARMv7 hardfloat package could be put together, then mpthompson would build it for the Raspian distibution on his build cluster? Might be the path of least resistance since it was natively ARMv7 on the palm devices

The pi is ARMv6 though not v7

right, but the Raspbian project is dedicated to porting ARMv7 debian packages to ARMv6

Every OS has its fans but pleeeeeaaaase Web OS is awwwful. I've had an HP Touchpad and it makes a great kitchenworktop browser and clock but Web Os is horrid!

You're right! I have a Hp TouchPad, too. WebOS lacks of so many things. I'm using Android and Ubuntu on the TouchPad.

WebOS is an OS for touch enabled devices, this means it would have more downfalls on RPI than on the TouchPad, if you don't own a touchscreen for the RPI. Not worth spending your time on it.

I must admit that for a hobby platform (where the point is to have fun doing interesting things of questionable usefullness for the sheer joy of hacking) this forum has a lot of naysayers. Perhaps someone should start a thread called "webos blows" or something then please confine your vitriol there.

I do not know what you have against Web OS but I think it's best "Mobile" operating system (I don´t use IOS so that I can not compare them with the know).
And if you do not like the events around the Web OS do not even notice.
