I have fond memories of Minix. I can remember using Minix on an Atari ST before Linux was even around. It would certainly be appropriate on the Pi for those who are interested in a basic OS that could be used a a teaching tool about OS design

I am new to OS Development and I have accepted the challenge to get MINIX3 running on the Pi. It can take months for me, but I am going to take Linux and Minix and compare those two on how it works.
If you are interested in my project (called 'Serenity') to get MINIX3 to RPi, you can go this website.

I don't think that'll be the best approach. Studying http://www.minix3.org/documentation/index.html will probably be much more useful.
