Linksys wusb100 wireless

Hi, linux newbie here, but loving my Rpi, looking forward to learning a whole new operating system.
So far my Rpi is working and I've managed with the help of the Internet to resize the partition to make full use of the 8gb sd card, my next two issues are getting the wifi working and then connecting to my Iomega NAS.
1st though is my linksys wusb100 v2 wireless adapter.
I have been looking but I am unable to follow some instuctions as they are for other linux distros and not specifically for the Rpi.
I've seen request in these posts for lsusb results so hear goes

Forgot to say I was using Debian squeeze, does wheezy have more support?

Can no-one give me any pointers? Have I posted it in the right place?

Having struggled through this issue myself not so long back, try having a look at this:

It's not looking too clever for the RT3070 chipset device that you're running - If I where to be recommending a wireless USB device for the RPi, I'd recommend one based on the Realtek RTL8187 chipset (put Alfa networks realtek 8187 into an ebay search for a few suggestions) - I've had no luck whatsoever with Ralink devices so far - he says, casting an eye at the five such things lying on his desk.

I got a similar problem:
I bought a ALFA AWUS036NEH with a rt3070 chipset which ran great using the Debian Squeeze Image. Unfortunatelly, when using the Raspberry Image I encountered some problems:
As soon as I plug in the device the whole systems starts to be very slow or even freezes completely. Using iwconfig I am able to see the device. But WICD is not seeing it.
Another interessting effect: I have a keyboard pluged into the same active USB hub as the ALFA. When I unplug the keyboard it sometimes shows the effect that the system seems to run a lot faster. But I am still not able to configure the ALFA using WICD.
Has anybody here encountered a problem like this, too?
