dual boot

Hello,

I'd just ordered a raspberry, and now i'm wondering if it is possible to dual boot. i'd like to use it as a media center (xbmc), and for education (probebly wheezy). is it possible since the raspberry doesn't have an bios.

The problem with berryboot it doesn't swap out the kernel, so if you plan on using the likes of Raspbmc as your XBMC build, then berryboot is not really the answer as Raspbmc uses it's own kernel ....
I have already created a dual-boot.img of Raspbmc & Raspbian - even if its not what your are looking for, atleast you can have a look att he mechanics involved in getting it to work correctly with two different kernel.img distro's - viewtopic.php?f=48&t=13691 - I plan on updating this image later on this month...

One way is to swap in an sd card with wheezy if you want to boot to debian,
and swap in another sd card with something else on it if you want to boot to something else.

We have got rather spoilt with grub and >32GB hard disk drives on a PC. The rPi does not have that. I've not seen huge sd cards at a better price than two smaller sd cards, and a 32GB usb memory stick is probably the most cost-effective large extra storage option.

Berryboot worked great for me however I was disappointed to find out that it currently only supports 256MB models and I have the 512 :/ Trying to do a Raspbmc/Raspbian dual boot, seems to be a sought-after setup!

I'm looking into the script solution:

Are you using the latest version of Berryboot?

A long thread (viewtopic.php?f=63&t=12776&start=350) covers Berryboot, and the linked page gives the answer about 256 / 512 - it does use 512; check that page to see if you are reading the result right
