Ok i know this one a tad Pi in the sky, pun intended!
But just imagine a cased RasPi with one of these fitted in!

It would be very handy for demonstrations/classes and usefull for peeps like me who have been infront of vdu's for far too long and now have putty sessions full screen!
Pico Projector

This is probably it.
Pico projectors are cool especially ones with lasers in them, but they are not worthwhile in my opinion. You'd spend ten times the cost of the RPi to get a screen you could only see in a dark room. Even with lasers.

Very true, never said it was practical or financially sensible, but it would still be cool

If you want something cheaper, Maplin are selling a projector with composite input for £50.

One small drawback in the small print. The resolution is 320x240. No, I did not mistype that.
This could be useful for very basic educational projects, not for any serious work.
I might buy one to show a Twitter feed on the ceiling of my bedroom. Just so I don't miss the important stuff on Twitter.

I don't know...I have a pico laser projector and it is pretty visible in a fairly well-lit room...Of course you can't blow it up to 100" or anything crazy without total darkness, but say 20-30" on a shadowed wall...
Carrying the pair around in my pocket with a roll-up keyboard will still give me an awesome ultra-portable computer/media system to use anywhere (other than outside).

I have the Optoma PK120... and paired up to the RasPi it`s actually pretty impressive. you need to set the audio to analogue though, or the video playback fails. I use a small wireless keyboard. and I can easily get 60" screen, yes in a dark room. but that`s more like a cinema experience.. Resolutions pretty good too. So I just upgraded my Pico to play any format and be remote controlled for £30..!!

I'm having fun with my pipico
It's not by any means finished, but it works like a charm:

Pi at the bottom, powered usb hub in the middle, pico on top (there will be a third floor to house the speaker which is also usb powered).

Yes, someone needs to get an animated gif on that and share the laser projected result. Someone hopefully who already has a pipico. They look fun but too rich for my blood.
we'll all have them embedded in our mobile phones, glasses and biros in a few years time - smart people are late adopters - just ignore the rich kids, remember your childhood and every day is like living in the future

mmm, I think a small projector mounted to a pi would make for an ultimate tool for sales people, or for meetings, and even for leading presentations and things. Very cool, Idealy, I'd want one that could work either on batery or off a powered USB hub, but still epic lol.
mmm, was thinking of making a media system to plug into my TV, but might get one of these projectors and usb speakers to make it portable
Time to google for a cheap handheld projector
, that maplins one looks good

I agree pygmy but the price of pico it too high. Any cheaper low res alternatives to pico? You don't need a projector capable of producing a high res 7 foot screen. Nice pun by the way.
