Printable case based on an actual Pi

I printed out the Punnet case earlier today and found that it didn't quite fit my brand new Pi, which was delivered earlier this week. Since I have seen a lot of case designs that are awaiting measurements of a real Pi, I decided to take out my ruler and produce this version of a printable case. Although I produced the diagrams from scratch, it is very similar to the Punnet, so if you want instructions for assembling it, please look there (my industriousness only extends so far...).

It fits my Pi quite snugly. Depending on the manufacturing tolerances, it may or may not fit yours.

I have included the original Visio diagram and a PDF version. NOTE: Please select the 'Actual Size' option when printing the PDF. By default the 'Fit to Page' option is checked, which messes up the measurements.

Congrats on your Pi, and also a nice case design- looks to fit like a glove!

guys, don't under estimate the value of a solid case enclosing your raspi - it makes the pluggin/unplugging of HDMI/Composite/Power cables o much straightforwards - i have my paper pi case at the ready but it will never house a raspi as far as I am concerned

the yoctopuse two slab plus support pillar solution works really well

I wholeheartedly agree that a solid case is better, but until I can organise one a paper case should protect against an accidental short circuit and can be used as a template for making the case out of other materials.

Much, much, much better than the Punnet case which seems to be getting all the attention.

I tried the Punnet case and it doesn't fit! On the Punnet, the headphone port is completely off and because of the 2mm gap below the board it never sits right in the case.

Whereas, this case fits beautifully! I cut square rather than circular holes for the composite and headphone jack and cut some small squares in the top for ambient cooling.

What's the hole on the top of this and the punnet case for??

Ventilation. apparently the RPi gets a bit warm without it.

papier mache could make it stronger

excellent job on the case. I don't have a cutter, so I just used a pair of scissors and a wooden ruler. Fits very snugly around the pi and went together beautifully with cheap pritt stick. Opted against using super glue although if I make another I might use that next time because pritt stick can soften when warm.

It's much more "solid" than expected even so I used pretty thin cardboard.

The base is 86mm by 57mm (ever-so-slightly bigger than the Pi board). Make sure you choose 'Actual Size' under the print options when printing the case.

I made one of these out of some thin cardboard I had lying around and it turned out surprisingly sturdy! I might actually use it for some time.
